Ground Control To Major Tom…

Written By:  Rick   |  Category:  Cleveland Browns   |  Comments:   2

Friday we gave you our ideas on how the Browns could beat the Giants tonight on Monday Night Football. We talked about how Braylon Edwards would need to get over his sever case of the drops, and fulfill his child-hood fantasies. (hat tip- reader Josh!) We lamented about Derek Anderson and the offensive line. We hoped for healthy returns of Donte Stallworth and Kellen WInslow.

Unfortunately, with what we have seen to this point in the season, none of us have much confidence in the Browns tonight. The Giants are the defending champs for a reason. They lose Strahan to retirement, Osi for the season, and they didn’t miss a step. Plaxico pulls a stunt, and they don’t miss a beat. The next guy in line simply fills in and excels. What we are talking about is depth. The Giants have it, the Browns don’t.

So when the NY Times football blog The Fifth Down asked for our take on tonight’s game, you will have to excuse us if we didn’t feel like gushing about our chances tonight. Make no mistake, we’d love to be wrong about this one. But not many of us see it going our way in the Big Apple tonight.

(Because I can’t just give you a post title like this one and not follow through on the song…)

    check ignition… nope.

before the season started, a bunch of people and I decided to throw a ridiculously large MNF party for the Browns appearance. We are reneging on that decision now.
