While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
Not to point out the obvious, but that is Philadelphia’s Samuel Dalembert being abused by LeBron James. Dalembert is 6′11″. How high would you say James’ knees are off of the ground? Five feet?
Is anyone else preturbed by the thought of the “Nation Embracing” the Steelers and Ravens? Could week 17 be any more anticlimactic? [James Walker]
Just when we get a championship-calibur football team, the Arena League goes on hiatus [Rumors and Rants]
“The 7-foot-3 center who is the Cavs’ all-time leading rebounder then shrugged. He thinks he will be OK, but is not sure how long he’ll be out. He will be examined by team doctors today. “This is the foot where I had the reconstructive surgery, so I want to be careful,” said Ilgauskas, who has had five operations on both feet.” [Terry Pluto]
Rarely do I see a six-year contract that has an opt-out clause after three seasons. If Sabathia does well in New York, is it possible that he could be making even more money after 2011? [Cant Stop the Bleeding]
“Ohio State coach Jim Tressel is also among 10 finalists announced Tuesday for the Football Bowl Subdivision Liberty Mutual coach of the year award. Other finalists are Nick Saban (Alabama), Mack Brown (Texas), Brady Hoke (Ball State), Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern), Urban Meyer (Florida), Joe Paterno (Penn State), Chris Petersen (Boise State), Bob Stoops (Oklahoma) and Kyle Whittingham (Utah). The winner will be announced at halftime of the Motor City Bowl on Dec. 31.” [Network Advocate]

The claim of Pittsburgh-Baltimore being the biggest rivalry just make me violently sick to my stomach. Not because it’s wrong….lets face it, it’s not. It’s because it SHOULD be Cleveland-Pittsburgh. You can match the history of the Browns-Steelers rivalry. But, the Browns organization has let us down.
Now, if we could get some people in here who knew how to win, and the Browns could start to win a few of these freaking games against Pittsburgh, then it will reclaim it’s rightful spot at the top of the rivalry charts. But for now, the Ravens are Pittsburgh’s biggest rivals…..and that’s so wrong.
Where’s Tim Couch when we need him? 3-4 against Pittsburgh, and 3 of his 4 losses were by 3 points. Those were the days. And yes, I just said the Tim Couch era was something to yearn for.
haha, i’m gonna break out my tim couch fleece for this sunday’s game
“Despite reports, Arena League doesn’t suspend ‘09 season”

…there’s hope for Bernie yet.
Love the guy but honestly how in the world is Tress up for coach of the year? I understand the rest – Saban would get my vote – but I think Dantonio would be more deserving than Tressell.
I agree IRB. He was severely outcoached in the USC game and for most of the season he refused to run an actual offense and make adjustments during the games. Atleast he figured out towards the end of the year how to get our offense moving like it should be.
I was surprised to see the Vest on that list as well. Let’s face it, with all those returning seniors, they should have at least been undefeated in Big Ten play…
Lets not forget that College Football awards are based on reputation most of the time. If finalists were truly selected on merrit, the Big 10’s own Sean Greene (I don’t think he spells his name like this, but i’m guessing) would be on his way to NY for a chance to win the Heisman trophy. Dude rushed for over 100 yards in all but 1 game i think. He even tore up Penn State, something Beanie couldn’t accomplish.
