Steve Heiden, Beau Bell Done for Season

Sad Browns FanThe Plain Dealer’s Tony Grossi gave a brief recap of the damage done in Monday night’s game against the Eagles.  While many players survived the skirmish, a couple did not.

Likely being added to the injured reserve – ultimately ending respective seasons – will be tight end Steve Heiden and rookie linebacker Beau Bell.

Heiden tore his right ACL and strained his MCL after Eagles defensive lineman Broderick Bunkley rolled on the back of his leg.  And no, it was not after being shoved from behind by Kevin Kolb.  Beau Bell also fell victim to the knee fairy, and will have arthroscopic surgery.  If you’re keeping count, that is officially 10 Browns players that are done for the season.  (Ten!  Ah ah ah ah…)

Assuming that Kellen Winslow does not return against Cincinnati this week, Darnell Dinkins will be your starting tight end with rookie Martin Rucker following closely behind.  After watching Dinkins drop an easy six two nights ago, I say we just give Rucker the shot.  After all, we traded up for the guy – let’s see what we have.  Here we go Brownies! (Sigh…)

I’d love to give the shot to Rucker… unfortunately I’ve got a feeling that the Cookie Monster (or is it vegetable monster these days… WHAT ARE YOU DOING SESAME STREET STOP IT NOW!!!) will go against the grain once again and keep playing his veteran players once again…

    1. nice sesame street reference(s)
    2. good call on that photo. while watching the game at one point there was a closeup of that dude looking just as forlorn as he does up there and my friend goes “it’s been a long day for that guy” to which i replied “F that it’s been a long season”.

I’m confused. To get hurt you have to be in the game (unless you’re Stallworth). So that means Bell played on Monday? I don’t remember seeing him out there.

Which brings us to the next point. If Bell was playing, why wasn’t Rucker? I have a feeling that we’ll put Ali and Vickers in at TE than play Rucker. Seems like Romeo refuses to play the kid, and will probably continue until he’s canned.

I am on the Rucker boat as well. Give the kid a chance!

Better not be so quick to trade K2. Who knows if Heiden will be able to make it back from an ACL tear?

    Two things

    Start Rucker
and the Count from Sesame St is awesome. It keeps my kids calm to I dont drink so much. But then I think about the Browns and then I drink more. Crap

Lyon – I believe Bell has only played on special teams. If I’m not mistaken, he hasn’t played a snap on defense.

The Cleveland Browns will not grace the screen of my television again until September. What a joke.
