While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
“If I wanted to get booed, I’d go on the road,” forward Chris Bosh had said after the loss, in which his team held a 13-point first-half lead.” Listen Chris, if you want to take a mini-vacation to Cleveland and just stay here for the rest of the year, I’m on board. [Toronto Globe]
“Playing Iona provided me with an opportunity to stuff a completely stupid joke down the entire team’s collective throat. When we played Tennessee last year, I had at least three people want to kill me by the end of the trip for my refusal to quit saying, “Did you guys hear Bruce Pearl and his staff don’t get paid? Apparently they are all Volunteers!” Of course, I topped off the joke each time I told it with an exaggerated laugh, because nothing is more annoying than hearing someone laugh at their own jokes. In a similar manner as the Tennessee game, I asked a majority of the team, “Do you own a college?” As they were trying to figure it out where I was going with it, I would drop the hammer and say “Cause Iona College!” and then laugh hysterically, for no other purpose than to be annoying. Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to have to put up with me on a daily basis. Good thing I’ll never have to find out.” [Club Trillion]
Ravens fans congratulate Jamal Lewis on passing the 10,000-yard threshold, putting him 24th on the all-time list. Assuming he doesn’t bust off 260 yards next week, that’s where he’ll be to start the 2009 season. [Blogimore Ravens]
About that Iverson-Saves-the-Day trade from a few weeks ago: “The Pistons have been awful on Sundays this season, 0-5 before this week’s match at Atlanta with losses to such omnipotent foes as the 4-22 Minnesota Timberwolves and the 11-15 New York Knicks. And as nobly as Detroit competed this time around, the team still fell to the Hawks 85-78. Perhaps worse news is that Michael Curry benched Allen Iverson with four minutes left and the Pistons down six. [...] “As such, Curry needed Iverson back on the floor for the last minute. Iverson looked extremely irritated by the call. On the team’s last possession, the ball swung to A.I. behind the arc with the team (down five) needing a quick score to have a chance. He passed it off immediately, despite being pretty open.” [FanHouse]
“LeBron’s business acumen is as highly developed as his basketball acumen, meaning he is at once both the best basketball player in the world and one of the top 10 business men. When LeBron signs on to do a sponsorship, it’s not just for a large contract and a little horse and buggy show. The King’s in it, every step of the way, under control, in control, and brining all his Fortune 500 contacts with him.” [First Cuts]

I would take Bosh in a heartbeat
Brendon, that is the understatement of the lifetime of the Cavaliers’ organization. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have Bosh in a Cavaliers uni alongside LeBron.
Craig – it would be like… like… AWESOME!!

I can’t link to it from work, but if you really want to read about LeBron’s business savvy, check out the Esquire article written about him a few months ago.
