After becoming one of the bigger feel-good stories of this season with the Cavaliers, it appears that former St. Ed’s standout Jawad Williams’ will no longer be a member of the team. Instead, the team looks locked into replacing the injured Tarence Kinsey by signing former New Orleans Hornet Trey Johnson from the NBADL (Bakersfield).
Needing a guard more than a forward at this point, the Cavaliers will add a guy that is averaging 20 points and four assists along with nearly 50 percent from three-point land. If Delonte West manages to return from his wrist injury quicker than anticipated, the team may only need to roster Johnson until his current deal expires. If he were to need a second 10-day contract, it would not be far-fetched for the team to do so.
Note that NBA teams must sign players for the remainder of the season if they have already been signed to two 10-day contracts. Alas, Williams likely saw his last minutes with the Cavaliers unless they decide that they need forward help down the home stretch.
