Rumors and Rants looks back through the 2006 NBA Draft. Good news is that Daniel Gibson is one of the highlights of the second round. Bad news is that the guy taken ahead of him (Shannon Brown) is listed as a non-factor. Even worse may be the fact that Paul Millsap was there even when Gibson was selected. And finally, I didn’t realize that Jason Wright was a free agent this year. I can’t see him being re-signed by the Browns, which means that Jamal Lewis (now a year older) will have that much more weight on his shoulders. Or it means that much more Jerome “Sexy” Harrison. [Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer]

If there’s one thing that the All Star game needs, it’s more patent leather.

I for one will be sorry to see Jason Wright go. I realize he’s not the flashiest RB, but I always thought that he contributed positives more often than not when he got on the field–not a quality that should be underestimated in a back-up. Time to hope James Harrison is durable enough to handle the expected increase in workload.
It’s also interesting to see the starters on the All-Disappointment team. Baron Davis (a guy many people wanted the Cavs to try to get in a sign-and-trade for in the off season), Mike Miller (a guy many, myself included, have thought in the past would be a nice fit on the Cavs), and Shawn Marion (a guy many people, myself NOT included, think would be a great addition for the Cavs this season).
There are Cleveland connections all over that list. Which, really, shouldn’t surprise us….the words “Cleveland” and “Disappointment” go hand in hand quite frequently.
Good riddance. Our backfield is pitiful. Period.
Three of the starters on the All-Disappointment team are on my fantasy team. No wonder I’ve been near last place all season.
Millsap is a product of the Jazz’s system that benefits PF’s (kind of like the Denver RB’s earlier in the decade). He definitely was taken too low, but I don’t hold it against the Cavs to have taken Boobie ahead of him.
Not holding it against them… Just would have been a very nice gem to pluck in the late-first, early second.

It says here, the Cavaliers, Lakers and Heat are the lone teams who should seriously consider obtaining Stoudemire’s sub-standard services. Sunday’s All-Star start is a gift from an adoring, oblivious public. He’d have no problem deferring to LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade because their areas of expertise don’t conflict with his, and they’re genuine franchise players . . . whereas he pretends to be.
Last I looked, Stoudemire hasn’t exactly proved capable of carrying an affluent team to ultimate glory.
Judging by what the Cavs have to offer – as mentioned, expiring contracts and talented youngbloods – and Kerr’s connection and affection for Danny Ferry – I’m guessing it’ll be Kevin McHale-Danny Ainge revisited . . . unless L.A. makes Lamar Odom available.

RB situation….
my preference would be Jeremiah Johnson in round4 (dude looks like a poor-man’s MoJo…and not that poor)
but…I could also see McCoy (NFL compare: Chris Johnson) or Shonn Greene (NFL compare: Marion Barber) be the choice in the 2nd round as well.
don’t expect Koke and Mangini to have Jamal shoulder the whole load and Harrison doesn’t have the frame to do so.

I am not sure how I feel about Amare but I dont think we should go for it unless we are getting him for a song.
One RB that I like is Javon Ringer from Mich State. Granted, you all probably saw him in action much more than I did, but I thought he had the build to be both durable and a bruiser.
@ Buu – it’s all but a done deal. My unnamed, non-existent sources close to LeBron’s girlfriend’s hairdresser’s cousin’s dogs tell me that he’ll be playing in a different city every year. Either way he’ll be in the running to be All-Star MVP every year.
You know what this means – start the LeBron to Dallas 2010 talk. Hell, I think he’ll be playing in Cowboys Stadium.
