While We’re Waiting… A Portly Donyell, LeBron for MVP, and Adam Miller Updates

donyell-marshall-fatWhile We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.

That’s the Donyell I know: “Was watching highlights tonight of the Sixers/Heat game and noticed a shot of Donyell Marshall checking into the game. Donyell’s making $1.2 million this year but has played just 14 games all season, so perhaps we shouldn’t expect him to be in terrific shape. But still…my man looks like he could work in a few crunches.  “He was well rested,” noted Philly coach Tony DiLeo. Well, apparently.” [Lang Whitaker/SLAMonline]

Adam Miller updates: “The good news is that the finger is not giving him any pain; the bad news is that he can’t bend the finger at the distal interphalangeal joint — the joint near the end of the finger, below the nail.  Yep, it’s always something.” [Anthony Castrovince/CastroTurf]

Catching up with Larry Hughes:

Q: Do you miss it at all here?

A: Not at all.

[Mary Schmitt Boyer/Plain Dealer]

Weighing in on the MVP Race: “Here at Empty the Bench it’s not a habit to regularly fawn over hyped-up superstars who have more press than pages in the Bible. We’re hardly above recognizing greatness, however, and what LeBron James has done this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers amounts to just that: greatness. Whether his efforts will be rewarded with the Larry O’Brien Trophy in June remains to be seen, but at a minimum, he will be the 2009 NBA Most Valuable Player.” [Brian Spencer/Empty The Bench]

A little Madness for your Morning: “Ohio State coach Thad Matta said he thought the Buckeyes might have played their way into a higher seed, but he did see the chance to get some OSU fans into the seats in Dayton as an advantage. Of course, three years ago, Ohio State was the No. 2 seed in Dayton and lost in the second round to No. 7 seed Georgetown.” [Doug Lesmerises/Plain Dealer]

That works out fine Larry, the feeling is most certainly mutual.

I like how your home page is all italics. Makes it classier.

When can we (and Paul Hoynes) dispense with the Adam Miller talk? Hoynes actally wrote the other day that Miller’s finger injury is not career threatening. I don’t want to read another word about his middle finger.

Did anyone else notice that Ohio State and Cleveland State are playing at the exact same time on Friday night? WOIO has a major decision to make.

@ 5- Play the CSU game until it turns into a blowout, switch to OSU game.

    This is Cleveland. Show CSU!!

I don’t think WOIO makes the decision. I think CBS decides which game is shown in each market.

Can they farm out a game to another Cleveland station or RSN? If they can’t, Cleveland St. would probably get the nod in Cleveland over Ohio St.
