“With four games left to play, the Browns are notmathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet!!!

Let me say right off the bat that I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE BROWNS WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. However, since it is still technically possible, let’s break it down real quick.

First of all, the Browns would need to run the table and finish 8-8, which is a nearly impossible feat. So eight wins is the magic number that we need to keep in mind here.

In the AFC there are five teams that have the inside track on the postseason: Patriots (9-3), Ravens (9-3), Texans (11-1), Broncos (10-3) and Colts (8-4). That leaves one spot left for the Browns.” [Flack/Bleacher Report]

Are We Collecting Thirty-Somethings?

Oh boy.  First this.  Now this.

Before the 1996 NFL draft, a small-school receiver met with a young, up-and-comer from the Baltimore Ravens by the name of Phil Savage, who was the first scout willing to spend time and visit with [Joe] Horn coming out of Itawamba Junior College. [...]

A dozen years later, Savage is the general manager of the Cleveland Browns — a team in need for a veteran third receiver to complement Pro Bowler Braylon Edwards and Donte’ Stallworth.

Baxter Released, Browns To Sign CB?

The Cleveland Browns announced today that they have terminated the contract of Gary Baxter-

“Last year we were able to hold a roster spot open for Gary as he attempted to make a monumental comeback. After he underwent a knee scope last week, we are unfortunately not in a position to hold a roster spot this year. We are releasing Gary today in hopes he will be able to continue his rehab and get back into the NFL, either with another team, or possibly with the Browns. Gary has made tremendous strides thus far and we believe he can play professional football again in the future.”

We had speculated that Baxter was looking at the PUP list at best, and now it seems that the team needed to clear a space, and Baxter is the odd man out. Gary is one of the best stories in the league, and certainly we wish him the best.
