The Best Browns Since 1999 – Special Teams

I figured I’d end the week on a happier note than some of the other categories. No better way to do that than with some love for Phil Dawson. [Read more...]

The Best Browns Since 1999 – Wide Receivers

Kevin Johnson won this one, but it was close with Braylon Edwards.  We all know that Edwards is a polarizing figure among Browns fans.  He never lived up to the spot he was drafted by most accounts.  His drops have become a favorite punchline.  Still, there’s no doubting Edwards ability and some of the numbers he put up in Cleveland.  Also, I’ve always stated how impressive it was for him to come back from his rookie year ACL injury as fast as he did.  The numbers don’t lie though. POLL: Who are the Best Browns Players Since 1999? Special Teams

Whew. That exercise yesterday was difficult to say the least. I know for some of you it was just downright depressing. Well, today things get a lot easier. This is a walk in the park compared to yesterday. I figure the only really difficult question is who is the best punter and second place for pretty much every other category.

So have fun. Enjoy today’s poll. Tomorrow is going to be considerably more difficult with defense.

Talking to Gregg Rosenthal of Pro Football Talk about that fateful day, Arians pulled no punches at who he blames for that colossal, Cleveland-esque collapse. [Read more...]

Which Was Worse?

The FanHouse recently did a piece that revisited the 2005 Cincinnati Bengals draft.  What looked like a solid draft on paper, at the time, turned out to be quite a disaster just a few years later.

Chris Henry1.17 – David Pollack: Retired
2.48 – Odell Thurman: Released
3.83 – Chris Henry: Released
4.119 – Eric Ghiaciuc: Starting C
5.153 – Adam Kieft: Not Tendered
6.190 – Tab Perry: Plays for Miami
7.233 – Jonathan Fanene: Backup DE

Yes, having your top three selections be complete busts/felons only three years later may come off as a tad on the “not-so-good” side; but if we really wanted to be optimists, we could point out that they did at least come out with a starting center and a backup Defensive End still in tow.

I mean, that’s a goldmine compared to the 2000 Draft of the Cleveland Browns, right?
