WFNY Fantasy Challenge: Last Call for Vegas

Tonight will kick off (or be the first pitch) for the WFNY/FanDuel Fantasy Baseball tournament which could send one of you to Las Vegas for the chance to win $100,000.

We laid out the details here, but in case you’re not from around these parts…

FanDuel Fantasy Challenges are fantasy baseball, salary cap style, for one night. You want Josh Hamilton? He’s yours. Josh Johnson has been on fire — sign him up!

You can enter as many teams as you wish. Each weekly tournament has over $3,000 in prizes, but if you win one of the 15 qualifying tournaments, you and a friend win an all expenses paid trip to the Palazzo in Las Vegas the weekend of July 28 & 29. There, the 15 finalists will compete for $250,000 in cash prizes in a one-day fantasy baseball game with the winner taking home $100,000.

Again, it’s only $10 to enter and you can enter as many teams as you want for the chance to take home $100,000.

Enter through this link. Tell them WFNY sent you.  Good luck!

WFNY Fantasy Challenge: Vegas Anyone?

WFNY Fantasy Challenge: One Team, One Night, $300 to the Winners

And we’re back with this week’s Fantasy Challenge. Given that the “beat the expert” component hasn’t faired so well — I’ve come in last and second-last, respectively — we’re going back to the old way. Straight-up salary cap, one night’s worth of games. [Read more...]

Last Call: WFNY’s $125 Fantasy Baseball Challenge

It’s only $2 to enter, so if you played last week, it’s house money. We’re also allowing participants to enter up to three teams per person with the top seven winners get a share of $125; beat me and break even.  It’s that simple.

Limited spots are available so get clicking and get winning.

WFNY Fantasy Baseball Challenge: Free Entry, Win $500

Here at WFNY, we are always looking for new and relatively exciting ways to interact with our readers. We realize that season-long fantasy sports leagues — especially the free variety — can tend to go by the wayside as the year wears on. Yet as the annual demand for fantasy leagues continue, we try to find ways to not only keep readers engaged, but provide them the chance to win prizes. Which is why we have decided to partner up with FanDuel, the home of daily and weekly fantasy sports leagues.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will have the opportunity to provide readers of WFNY the chance to not only compete with the writers in fantasy sports, but with each other with the opportunity to win up to $500 in prizes. The best part? Each challenge is not only free to readers, but they last one day. Choose a player who pulls a hammy? Regroup next week and select a different one. It’s that simple. [Read more...]

WFNY Fantasy Baseball

We mentioned it in an earlier post, but we have more information for you now. There will be a WFNY fantasy baseball league, but with a twist. The league will have 16 teams and 2 divisions. WFNY staff will be one division, and readers will be another! In addition, there will be an online auction for players. If you want to participate, you MUST be available for the online auction on Wednesday, April 1st at 8pm EST.

If you can make the auction, and think you have what it takes to take down the staff, (usually a good movie quote will distract us by the way) then add a comment to the post and we’ll draw names for the spots. Good luck.

While We’re Waiting… Lue to Orlando, Eric Mangini Still Quiet, and a Possible Roadtrip

While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing.  Have something you think we should see?  Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.

Third Quarter Collapse discusses the addition of Tyronn Lue to the Magic.  Sure, Bogans’ contract may have deserved a bit more in a deal, but what they fail to mention is the fact that Lue has been downright lethal at times when facing the Cavaliers.  The Philadelphia 76ers are the only team in the league to allow more points per game to Lue in as many contests as the Cavaliers.  While I doubt Orlando added Lue for this reason, it definitely doesn’t hurt matters for the Magic.  [Ben Q Rock/Third Quarter Collapse]

No Time for Losers…

Congratulations to Jeremy, who won the inaugural WFNY baseball fantasy league! You might recognize Jeremy as Cpl Yuk in the comments. It was a 13 team roto league made up of readers plus Scott and myself. Scott and I put up a valiant effort to keep the coveted t-shirt in house, but in the end we were no match for More Cowbell, who finished no lower than 5th in any one category in the 6×6 league.

Jeremy wore his new WFNY jersey style shirt to the Browns big win last night. Is it any coincidence that the Browns offense was unstoppable as a result? Did I mention those shirts are available at the WFNY cafepress store? Jeremy is also still alive in the WFNY Survivor football league. Anyone interested in basketball? If so leave a comment. A little fantasy baseball?

fantasy-baseball.jpg

I have to admit, I love some fantasy sports. With baseball season right around the corner I thought I would offer up a Waiting For Next Year fantasy baseball league. Those interested please respond in the comments section, and I will send you an email with the league ID and password. It will be a roto league, from both AL and NL. Draft will be autodraft, since trying to get a bunch of us together at the same time is probably a reach. The league will be through Yahoo, and will be free.

And since I suppose there needs to be some type of prize involved, how about a fancy WFNY t-shirt? Sounds good to me. Who’s in?
