GAMBLOG: 10/31/08

GAMBLOGWithout a Buckeyes game to look at this week, Matt was given the task of wagering his Monopoly Money on the Cleveland Browns.  With this week’s game being huge, I wouldn’t recommend adding to the high blood pressure by placing any wager on this contest.  Well, of course unless it has to do with blog headers – that’s perfectly acceptable.  As always, WFNY does not condone gambling of any kind; the GAMBLOG is for recreational purposes only.  With that said…

GAMBLOG Picks of the Week

Picks of the Week – October 4, 2008

Okay, here we go. This marks the start of a new era in the Gamblog. No longer will Matt pick his “lock” of the week. Instead the writers at WFNY will select the game of the week and a random prop bet to go along with it. This week his task is the OSU/Wisconsin game and a look at how the AFC North will fare versus some tough competition. For some reason he thinks his 12-3 record ATS is going to take a hit this week.  And, of course, WFNY does not condone gambling of any kind.  This is purely for entertainment purposes.  With that said… [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

Picks Of The Week – September 12, 2008

First things first, I need to apologize to Matt, the author of these GAMBLOGs. You see, last week he picked 2 games for us, the Cowboys/Browns and the Giants/Redskins. However, due to my own personal busy schedule, I was unable to get his picks posted prior to the games starting, and wouldn’t you know it, Matt got them both right once again. Yes, that means he picked the Cowboys over the Browns, but this weekly feature isn’t about homer-ism, it’s about getting the picks right. So I’m going to go ahead and still give Matt credit for the 2 wins ATS last week, and now this week we’re back with 2 more picks from Matt for this weekend’s big games. Remember kids, the GAMBLOG and WFNY do not make any promises that these picks will be right……but Matt’s record does speak for itself.   [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

Picks Of The Week – August 29, 2008

Football season is here once again, and that means the GAMBLOG weekly feature is back as well. Unfortunately, Vegas doesn’t set lines when Division 1 teams take on Division 1AA teams, so we couldn’t focus on Ohio State. With the Browns still a week away from kicking off their season, Matt decided to kick off the GAMBLOG season with the biggest Big Ten game this week. This is the part where I remind you that this is merely for entertainment purposes only and WFNY does not condone gambling of any kind….    [Read more...]

Kellen Winslow: First Player Arrested?

“Arrests and violations of the NFL conduct code have become an unfortunate trend amongst the league’s players.”

The quote above comes from a recent email from BetUS.com’s spokesman Reed Richards. What he should added to the end was: “and it’s an excellent way for us to make some money!”

We all know that you can gamble on pretty much anything these days. The weather, Olympic gymnastics, and even the length of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. And while we could easily turn this post in to a GAMBLOG, I felt that we should focus a bit more on the specific players mentioned in BetUS.com’s latest odds on NFL arrests.

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – April 2, 2008

After some time away, Matt decided it was time for another GAMBLOG session. Sometimes life gets in the way and writing gets tough. And then other times, you feel so good about pick that you just have to share it with the world (or, whoever happens to read WFNY). With the latter being the case, we are pleased to bring back the GAMBLOG. As always, be careful with how you use this information. We’re all about fun and games, not serious gambling. Right? GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – March 9, 2008

Back again with Matt’s GAMBLOG for this week. In a down year for OSU hoops, and a year in which thanks to the formation of the Big Ten Network and Time Warner’s refusal to pick it up I have seen only a quarter of the games tops (and I won’t be able to watch this game….thanks Big Ten and Time Warner), we’ve not really covered OSU basketball here at WFNY much. But, as far as big games go, this one is about as big as they get. With a win Sunday and at least one win the Big Ten Tournament, OSU is looking to back their way into the Dance. With a loss on Sunday, though, you can probably count OSU out of the tournament short of a Big Ten Tournament title. Since this game is so big, Matt decided to weigh in with his hopeful wishing, er, I mean, thoughts about the game. I sure hope he’s right about this one.  [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – February 29th, 2008

Time for the latest installment of the GAMBLOG. For once, I think I agree with Matt’s pick. Sorry, Matt, looks like you’re about to get one wrong this week. Although, I do appreciate Matt’s disclaimer at the bottom after I gave him a rough time last week about making up spreads. Don’t get me wrong…..He’s still making up spreads, but now he’s giving us a disclaimer. It’s all good, though. His spreads are frighteningly close (almost to the point if you didn’t know better, you might think he’s actually a bookie), and so we’ll continue to go with the flow. Good work as always, Matt. And remember boys and girls, we’re not responsible if you go out and do something illegal with these words. This is just for fun…. [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – February 22, 2008

After taking a week off (as though being a new parent can really be that tough) Matt is back for another GAMBLOG installment. This week he makes up a spread, which is shady, but I’ll let it slide this time. He’s generally pretty good with his line guesses, although I’m not sure why such a depleted Cavaliers roster should be favored, even if it is at home. It seems like I’m always doubting the GAMBLOG picks, but Matt’s the one who is 5-1, so listen to what he says. As always, use this info for fun not for anything else. [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – February 11, 2008

Well, Matt didn’t believe me that he was nuts last week, and now he doesn’t believe me again that this game has disaster written all over it for the Cavaliers. Obviously it’s a large spread, but when you look at the history of teams on the road at the back end of back-to-games against the spread, combined with the injury situation of the Cavaliers and the recent success of the Magic against the Cavaliers, and it looks like a sucker’s bet. But the first rule of gambling is that when everyone and their mother is going one way, the smart bet is to go the other way….and that’s exactly what Matt has done. As always, these picks are just for fun. [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – February 7, 2008

We’re back with another installment of the GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week. This week Matt takes a look at college basketball. Personally, I think Matt is nuts and I think he’s about to drop to 4-1 ATS, but hey, that’s why he’s the resident “advice” expert and I am not. As always, I feel compelled to include my fine print disclaimer….these picks are just for fun, not for any activities that are probably illegal where you live. However, if you win your “just for fun” bet and feel an obligation to kick back a percentage of your “fun winnings” to us, we will gladly oblige your wishes. [Read more...]

GAMBLOG Picks Of The Week

GAMBLOG LogoPicks Of The Week – January 31, 2008

For those of you who may not be familiar with the GAMBLOG segment, it started at my old site when one of my friends and readers, Matt, approached me with the idea to write a weekly blog within my blog about his pick(s) of the week. I agreed that it seemed like a good idea, and so GAMBLOG was born. Now, I am bringing this feature over to the new site, so here we are with Matt’s picks. As always, should you choose to use these for any illegal purposes, you are doing so at your own risk. These picks are just for fun. [Read more...]
