Guess what? TD is out of town again. Which means you’ll be subjected to another “live” recap. I know what you’re thinking: “I don’t pay my hard-earned blog-related money for no stinking ‘live recap’!” You’re right. You don’t.
But if you’d like to, I accept personal checks and/or gift cards to the Home Depot. I’ve got a pretty nice little Saturday planned, actually…
7:21: So I’m a bit late getting started here. I ate dinner around 7:05, fully expecting the top of the first inning to be going on still, what with Fausto’s proclivity for being bad. Instead, he sends down the Angels in the top of the first 1-2-3. He looked fine, but we all know how that story goes.
An added bonus? In the bottom of the first, Michael Brantley rips a double down the right field line with one out, followed by a single from Asdrubal to score him. This means the Indians have already hit the over in hits (1.5) and runs (0.5) for the game. Yes, those numbers are made up, but Dan Haren is good enough that it’s not outside the realm of possibility. A nice start. [Read more...]

LeBron James takes over New York again and leads the Cavaliers to an impressive thrashing of the overwhelmed Knicks.
LeBron James becomes the youngest player in NBA history to reach the 11,000 point mark en route to leading the Cavaliers over the Nets for their eight straight win of the season.
The Cavaliers followed their M.O. for this season-start out well, play lackluster for the middle portion of the game, then turn it on and take over the game in the 4th quarter-to take down the Milwaukee Bucks and extend their winning streak to 5.
For the second straight night the Cavaliers use a dominant 4th quarter performance to overcome early sluggish and unengaged performance.
They say a win is a win. How true. No matter how pathetic the Cleveland Browns looked against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon, all that will be noted when people look back on this one is that the Browns came away with the win by the final score of 20-12. Forget the atrocious play of QB Derek Anderson once more, forget the mere 43 yards rushing Jamal Lewis came up with after the game’s very first drive despite the Bengals having only the 28th ranked rush defense in the league, forget the 9 penalties (most of which were mental in nature), forget the fact that the Bengals were playing without their leader, captain, Pro Bowler, All-Pro QB Carson Palmer and instead had a QB making his first start since 2005 and who played his college ball at Harvard, forget the fact that the Browns were losing 6-3 to an 0-3 team with no QB heading into the 4th quarter. No, instead, people (the Browns) will say that all that matters is coming out unscathed with a win and that the Browns are now 1-3 instead of 0-4.
One of my bigger complaints earlier in the season was when Cliff Lee would wind up with a no decision after pitching masterfully through seven or eight innings, either thanks to a lack of run support or a bullpen implosion. Neither was the case yesterday evening as the sticks came out in grand fashion – enough to weather a two-run ninth inning from none other than Eddie Mujica’s 7.50 ERA-tossing right arm.
