Mark Price and Brad Daugherty Headline Cavs NBA Jam Roster

With the legendary arcade game NBA Jam being updated and released for the Nintendo Wii, a lot has been made about what players will make the respective rosters.  And while LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal are no longer options in Cleveland – rendering the image to the right useless; sad, but useless – we become privy to the news that Cavalier fans will be able to add a little history to their gameplay.

Looking ahead to 2011: “Entering 2010, it’s clear that while [Eric] Mangini still has some influence within the organization, the Browns are no longer exclusively his.  With this in mind, projecting ahead becomes a little more cloudy – as the desires of Mike Holmgren, Tom Heckert and Mangini are all fused into one vision.  While last April’s draft seemed to be a collective effort between the three, it’s likely that Heckert and Holmgren will eventually be the sole architects of the team’s future.” [Cleveland Reboot]

NBA Jam Screen Shot

Narrowing down the choice for Cavs players in the upcoming resuscitation of the classic NBA Jam: “LeBron? No explanation necessary. Shaq? Too legendary to even think about snubbing, especially after he famously made Orlando cart around the original arcade version on road trips so he could get his NBA Jam fix. The final vacancy? Williams and Jamison obviously have to be considered strongly, but who doesn’t think about Varejao when they think about the Cavs? Varejao might be Cleveland’s second most influential player, has great chemistry with LeBron and has scrapped his way straight into the Sixth Man Award race with Atlanta’s Crawford.” [Marc Stein/Weekend Dime]

BDL Finals: Get Out and Vote!

Regretfully, we have not had the chance to publicize Ball Don’t Lie’s 2-on-2 tournament that they have creatively done up NBA Jam style.

Thankfully, it has not mattered all that much as the Cavaliers (represented by LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas) have mowed through their competition.  Their road to the finals saw limited competition until about two rounds ago:

- Chicago Bulls’ Rose/Deng (77 percent of vote)
- Washington Wizards’ Butler/Jamison (77 percent of vote)
- Orlando Magic’s Lewis/Howard (52 percent of vote)
- Boston Celtics Pierce/Garnett (51 percent of vote)

And now, folks, we need your help.  LeBron and Z face off in the finals against Portlands Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge.  If you ask me, these two wouldn’t have made it past the tandems of Orlando or Boston.  Yet somehow, they’re currently topping the Cavaliers – I blame the Kobe fans.  So get over to BDL and vote for the Cavaliers.  Show them how big of a landslide it would truly be.
