A Tale of Destiny and Fate: Ken Carr, Indians Photographer

Ken Carr was an individual I knew I’d never forget. From his customary safari hat to his down-to-earth demeanor, he made an immediate impression on me when our paths first crossed at Canal Park in 2009.

I then made my first drive over to Carr’s house in 2010. At the time, I was helping the Akron Aeros finish their production of team baseball cards, and was simply told that he had been taking pictures for them for ages.

Thus, I made the first of two journeys (so far) to an amazing wonderland of Cleveland Indians artifacts. And to the home of an incredible 78-year-old freelance photographer who “just by accident” got his break. [Read more...]

Cleveland Sports Blog Night at Canal Park: In Pictures

Last Thursday was the second annual event. As always, thanks to Jacob Rosen, Mike Link and the Akron Aeros staff for their help in pulling the event off. Also thanks to Pete Pattakos and Vince Grzegorek for helping promote the event. Perfect weather (maybe a little hot) and a bigger crowd than last year helped make the event a success. An Aeros win certainly didn’t hurt either. It was nice to meet some new blood, but great to spend time with ‘old friends’ as well. Watching the group interact it was hard to believe that a good portion of them met for the first time last year at the Aeros event. Hope you can make the next one. Tribe vs White Sox: the Game in Pictures

When WFNY was invited to the Tribe Social Deck for last night’s game, we knew we better invite Jon Cole for some sweet photography. Here is the game through Jon’s lens. (Actually, two lenses.) Oh, and Cleveland is now 2-0 in games that Jon is dispatched to cover for WFNY. Just ‘sayin.
