The image above is a Madden 2010 rendition of the newly drafted center Alex Mack.  The great folks at EA Sports went ahead and released the ratings of the entire first round, including a few specific area ratings to compare against a few peers.

If EA is right, Mack’s addition should add some much-needed run blocking while providing an adequate boost to the passing game as well.  For comparison sake, Mack rated a full eight points better than Eric Wood, the second center taken in the first round.

Yes but does his NCAA 2008 grade validate his draft status? Anybody? You kids and your video games…

Hey, I think it is the best way to gauge his talent until we can see him on the field.

@ Brendon – how about game tape of Cal games rather than video game scores?

I think everyone took this way too serious.

    Thanks, Tampa…

What was Alex Boone’s BAC rating?

Hey, I know it is a video game but I think this is WFNY worthy information. Think about it, Madden has people that judge NFL talent and they have already rated the people in the first round. I find it encouraging that from watching him on tape etc that they graded him so strongly. The only thing he is probably lacking is NFL awareness (hence the grade of 79 overall).

It is actually somewhat shocking/surprising/sad(maybe) to see the amount of time and effort these EA guys put into their ratings.

That being said, I am pretty sure Scott did this for fun. So glad to see so many uptight people getting worked up over it

correct me if i’m wrong but wouldn’t one assume that EA’s “overall” score would be the average of the other 4 scores? i’m no jacob rosen, but i’m PRETTY sure that would be an 88

Actually Mendy no. If you’ve ever played and created your own character there is way more than just four categories. Looks like they’re just showing the four that have the most to do with that position.

and to extend on Tampa- some categories are weighted more then others, and some differ depending on position.

But how is Mack only a 79 is what I want to know. Fraley was like a 86 or something in 09. That means the Browns downgraded!

Ok, after looking at other rankings, apparently we stole Mack. Sanchez is a 77! HA! take that NYJ!! and people say WE got the wrong end of the deal!
