Someone Had To Win A Game
May 31, 2008A Royal Blue Weekend
June 2, 2008With Travis Hafner hitting the DL yesterday, recent call-up Shin-Soo Choo will make his season debut tonight against the Royals, batting sixth and playing right field.
It is also worth mentioning that Grady Sizemore is in the lineup, but is the designated hitter. It isn’t often that your lead-off guy is your DH, but there is a chance that Eric Wedge and Company wanted to give him some rest after his explosion yesterday. Perhaps his knee is a bit banged up from the collision with the wall as well. Franklin Gutierrez will take his spot in center, and Ryan Garko will get the night off.
Sabathia’s on the hill, so hopefully he gets some run support tonight.

Only the third time in his career Sizemore has been the DH. He hit .429 in his previous 2 games at DH, so hopefully that’s a good omen. Not that we routinely want last year’s Gold Glove winner to not be holding down the CF position.
Crazy thing is, given time I think that Gut could be a gold glover as well…
And assuming Gut can ever prove he can hit major league pitching, too, of course.
Is Rick not here anymore?
Rick’s on vacation. He’ll be back next week sometime.
