NBA Draft: Chad Ford’s Update

Written By:  Scott   |  Category:  Cleveland Cavaliers   |  Comments:   5

ESPN’s Chad Ford has released his updated Mock version of the upcoming NBA Draft.  Of course, Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley are one and two, respectively.

However, things get a bit dicey once you get past Miami thanks to the ever-increasing rumors of teams looking to trade down.  This demand is a great sign for the Cavaliers who sit at 19 as it shows that there is some decent depth to be had in this one.

We’ve discussed what we think this team can, and should, do.  But after the jump, please find the updated version of what Mr. Ford feels Danny Ferry will do on draft day.

Kosta Koufos, Cleveland Cavaliers

The skinny: If Kosta Koufos slips this far, it will be tough for the Cavs to pass on him. He’s a very skilled big man who gets up and down the floor really well.

Aren’t you glad I didn’t wait until after lunch to post this?  For relative comparison, Chris Douglas-Roberts goes 27th to New Orleans.  Ty Lawson to the Spurs at 26.  Bill Walker heads to Detroit at 29.

Let’s hear it in the comments.  I’m sure it’ll be pretty.

Just one question. How does LeBron feel about it?

Hooray for drafting tall white guys who have never won anything!

Why would be interested in athletic swingmen who played a key role in leading a team to a National Championship?

    Cavaliers Basketball, it’s faaantastic

Kosta Koufos is less qualified to be drafted than Chris Mihm was back when the Cavs drafted him. I don’t buy this for a second. I can’t believe it. I WON’T believe it.

Desegana Diop just called, and HE thinks this is a bad idea. Trajan Langdon? He wouldn’t sign off on this draft pick either.

Cavs didn’t draft Mihm. They drafted Jamal Crawford and then TRADED for Mihm – which is actually worse.

This is one man’s (Chad Ford’s) uninformed opinion. The Cav’s need to target a player who will help contribute immediately; read: especially the next two years!

That is the reason why the raw 19 year-old Koufos will not be a Cav.
