25 th
The draft starts at 7:00pm, but the action has already begun. Windhorst has been tweeting all day that we should expect the Cavs to make some other kind of move, so we’ll be watching and waiting. Who do you want to see the Cavs go after? What will it cost? One thing is for certain- we’re all ready to talk Cavs again!

Boy what a strange day…Farrah dies, then Michael Jackson…sad…
Now let’s talk NBA Draft!!!
First, what of VC going to Orlando? I think he’ll be a strange fit there, especially if he does the types of things that drive folks crazy (and that probably kept him from coming to Cleveland). Will he have the heart to work and to fit in with DH, Nelson and Lewis? Will they even be able to afford Hedo AND Gortat? I think Orlando looks a little thin at guard now too, trading Alston and C.Lee.
As for the Cavs, can they trade up? What can they use as bait? (The Shaq trade seems so yesterday’s news all of a sudden, doesn’t it?)
To me, I hope the Cavs stay in their spot, there really isn’t anyone worth trading up for unless they get in the top 10.
@DJ – I love the VC to Orlando deal — for the Cavs. VC has been a me-first player his entire career.
Windy’s reporting the deal puts the Magic well over the luxury tax threshold this year and next. He speculates that the Magic might let Hedo walk and try and resign Gortat with VC now in the fold. If that’s actually the plan and Hedo does walk, the Magic just got a lot worse today I think.
I want Derrick Brown.
Long, athletic 3-4 — just the type Cavs lack;
Known to play defense;
Comes from same school as recent late first round pick/multiple All-Star;
Ohio native;
Name: Brown — rhymes with Frown.
The total package.
AMC: Totally with you on the VC deal. I think he messes up the good thing they had going there. Bad chemistry. Plus, has the guy ever won anywhere?
So far things are going as predicted- Griffin to the Clippers, Thabeet to the Grizzlies, and Harden to OKC. Things may start to get interesting with Sactown and 2 Minny picks.
@3 and 4: Exactly my point earlier. Glad he’s not here. Having said that, it just emphasizes the point that CLE has to get a long wing player who can defend the perimeter, particularly whether it’s Hedo or VC (or god forbid both) in ORL.
LAC – Griffin (duh…though I feel bad for him)
MEM – Thabeet (whatever…it’s the Griz)
Zombie Sonics – Harden (like the fit with Westbrook and Durant)
SAC – Evans (I would have really liked him in CLE)
Evans to Kings at 4…
Minny selects…
…Ricky Rubio!
I really want to see LeBron chase Rubio down and destroy a layup and see little Ricky cry like he did in the Olympics…
And…
Kinda hope Minny takes Curry just to piss off NY.
And NY breathes a sigh of relief…damn.
Johnny Flynn? Really? Why??
Jonny Flynn? Really?
I love Jonny Flynn but that pick makes no damn sense whatsoever. You realize you just drafted a point guard.
Cmon GS, take Curry…
Trade between Atlanta and GS
That was awesome.
And Golden State takes Curry
WE ARE NOW OPENLY ROOTING FOR A TRADE WITH MINNY…
O YES!!! Curry in NY would have been a nightmare, especially w/ the LBJ to NY vultures out there.
Eff NY.
Cavs might be able to land Ty Lawson if they can get Minny’s pick #18
What would be given up in that trade Rick?
So now what for the Knicks?
@ Lyon- Cash and our #30
Knicks take PF Jordan Hill
Toronto on the clock…
Simmons tweet: Flynn makes no sense for MIN, Curry no sense for GS. Admittedly, I don’t know GS situation, but it still seems stupid, even if they wanted to trade one of them.
I would love for CLE to trade up for Lawson, but who would they move? Gibson? Hickson? Jackson?
Meanwhile, Cliff Lee is dominating the Pirates, of course he’s only got a 1-0 lead…
Well let’s make it happen.
@DJ- Minny wouldn’t take Gibson with the two guys they just drafted.
@31: Exactly, that’s why I wonder who they could move to get the extra Minny pick. I don’t see them wanting anything CLE has.
Toronto picks DeMar DeRozan. In other words- pass.
@ DJ- But you can only have so many players on a roster…
Might Bucks take Blair, freeing up CV to go elsewhere?
Minny had a full roster, then got 3 players from Washington for only two. 2 picks already in the draft, struggling finances…
Or Jennings…interesting pick for them
Bucks take Brandon Jennings..
New Jersey Nets up next.
New Jersey grabs F Terrence Williams.
Windy sure likes the pick for NJ.
Charlotte picks Gerald Henderson.
Indiana Pacers on the clock…this one could be pivotal if the Cavs are going to move up.
Henderson seems to be like a total bust in waiting.
@43: Very true…crossing my fingers.
Hollinger disagrees w/ Windy that Williams was a good pick for NJ…pretty funny.
Hansbrough to IND…yeah, that’s about right.
Indiana selects Tyler Hansbrough. That keeps the dream alive.
Oh Phoenix…what will you do?
Lot of “hard working” guys.
The Suns pick… Earl Clark.
Detroit is on the clock… here’s hoping they mess it up!
Foster, Dunleavy, Murphy, McRoberts, Diener, Hansbrough. Even Nesterovic. Larry Bird loves white players.
Pistons have to go DeJuan Blair right? They have NOTHING down low.
Pistons select Austin Daye.
Austin Daye just won a ticket on the Titanic.
From Windhorst-
There’s a couple of very good guards still on the board. But if the Cavs move in these picks it would probably be for a wing.
@55: nice lol.
He would be perfect for CLE…if they didn’t have to win NOW.
Bulls on the clock…this pick is going to be a surprise to me no matter who it is. James Johnson?
My guess is Mullens or Blair. Just a hunch.
I was thinking maybe Mullens. I’d be fine with that!
Johnson is the pick.
I was hoping for Mullens. Instead they picked someone who can actually help them. Too bad.
Lawson still on the board!
Philly takes Jrue Holiday
Minny is on the clock…
Brian Windhorst promised me more moves to come!
Minny takes Ty Lawson!!!!!!!
Something is coming!!!!
Definitely going to be trading Lawson (or maybe Rubio) for someone.
@#$%^&* Minnesota!
Awww man… Lawson going to Denver.
interesting strategy- take all of the point guards and auction them off.
Come on Windy…I need some info!!!
Why do I always let my hopes get up on draft night? Danny Ferry never moves up.
Lawson traded to DEN? EVEN WORSE!!!
Meanwhile Teague is off the board.
Denver basically picked Lawson up for nothing – an unprotected pick from Charlotte
From Windy-
Next pick to watch for the Cavs to attempt to get is No. 21 from New Orleans then perhaps No. 23 from Sacramento
Not holding my breath.
Rick – would the plan be to move up for Young?
Eric Maynor goes to Utah.
Young or Blair I imagine
Either of those two and you might see the Cavs willing to part with Hickson…
At this point, I’m not sure that staying where we are and taking Taj Gibson wouldn’t be ok.
Interesting pick there N.O.
5 PGs in a row…
Is Patrick Mills a risk worth taking? Undersized is so not what the Cavaliers need, but the 2 times I have seen him play he has impressed me a lot.
Blair is the pick here for Portland right? And they get scarier…
No way Portland doesn’t pick Blair. Unreal.
WHAT???????
And a curveball!
Whhhhhhh….?
Shaq on ESPN…
Mental conversations? Is Shaq capable of mental telepathy?
Shaq off the bench?
Shaq and Z are going to split the time at Center, so what difference does it make?
The Kings passed.
6 picks to go. Come on teams, keep passing on Blair and Young. Do it.
The Cavs are in good shape if they are looking for a forward.
Ok, technically the Kings drafted someone. I have a theory though. If the player you drafted is from a country that has never had a person selected in the NBA draft, and they don’t have some kind of freakish skill or attribute…your team made a bad pick!
I remember talk last year that the Cavs were interested in Budinger if he would have come out. I’m not a fan of his defense, but that pick wouldn’t surprise me if he keeps slipping.
Good pick there Dallas. (snicker)
Mullens – it’s not good when you’re a center and your “needs improvement” is “post game”
Budinger = Wally 2.0
No thanks
Chicago might still get Blair at 26. That would be a coup for them. Unless Okla City decides to add to their stable of solid young bigs here.
I’m guessing Memphis takes Blair at 27
I don’t necessarily disagree, AMC….just sayin, don’t be shocked…
I bet Blair punches Noah by Christmas if that happens!
Ha! OKC’s pick bought a ticket to the draft!
BJ Mullens going to Oklahoma City.
Why did the Mavs and OKC just flip picks – there had to be something that Dallas got in return, right?
Maybe Cuban started reading tweets from Ohio State fans…
Windy tweeting that the Cavs could move up for Young
Windy: “It is possible the Cavs could flop with any of these teams and move up. Sam Young is there if they want him.”
If only.
Or else the Mavericks felt it was easier to spell Mullens than Beaubois when they wrote the name on the card.
Ok, was Blair the one driving Stallworth’s car or something?
Taj Gibson? Interesting. I thought that was who the Cavs would end up with.
@ Rock, 107 – Actually, Buddinger being like Wally 2.0 is probably his ceiling. Seems like Luke Jackson 2.0 is also a real possibility…
@ Rock, 115 – FTW!
Ok, I’m officially thinking we are getting either Young or Blair. At #30, I didn’t think either was possible.
I’m starting to get this craving for Blair. Only need 3 more teams to pass. If you’re the Cavs, why not take the gamble on him at #30?
I was starting to think that as well Rick…reminds me a little of Tayshawn Prince; tall, lanky, great wingspan to defend on the perimeter, decent shooter, don’t really need him to play down low
Minny is going Blair I bet.
Even if we don’t get Blair or Young, Ellington would be there, which wouldn’t be too bad i guess.
There are some NICE picks available right now. I wish Ferry would just move up now and get the guy he wants.
Lets not forget, though, that means there are some NICE picks available for the Lakers, too.
Here’s a shock…Tribe gives up a run in the ninth in a tie game…
Lakers sold their pick Rock
Wow – seems a little early for Carroll. If he was going somewhere that wasn’t a complete hell hole like Memphis, I’d like him a lot as a hustle player
Well…..unless Blair and Young go in the next 2 picks, the Cavs are getting one of them. Minny doesn’t need this pick, though. Ferry can get this pick.
@ Rick – don’t bring those negative Tribe vibes in here son!
Lakers sold their draft pick to Knicks actually..
Who did the Lakers sell the pick too?
The Knicks
Windy raining on my Blair parade: “Have to admit, I never considered Dejuan Blair for Cavs. Doesn’t fit their needs. Cavs would be happy with either Young or Summers I think”
Blair, Young, and Summers and Brown are still there too- we’re getting some length no matter what now. Woo!
Is that official? I still have Lakers on the ESPN DraftCast.
@126: who are the Tribe?
What about Brown out of X? Might he work for CLE?
Yeah, that was announced earlier today.
From Windy-
Lots of surprise picks in the 20s for me, shocked some of the guys who are on the board. There have to be reasons, I suppose.
Yeah Windy, but a reason could be they are morons.
I don’t want Summers – watched him here in DC on GTown – don’t think he’s got enough game.
Love that pick. I think Ellington can flat out play.
Wayne Ellington means we get one of the two!
So now either Young or Blair are guaranteed to be on the board
Love called Ellington on Twitter…not too shabby
At this point, I want Young. Which means the Knicks will take him here, probably. Spite!
no Toney Douglas talk?
Doesn’t sound like Windy is convinced they would take Blair if he was there.
Knicks can take Blair, make the fans in the Garden happy.
I hate knicks’ fans.
YOung is going to be there – and Blair!
Blair falling out of the 1st round? Who woulda thunk it.
Sam Young on a platter!
Do the Cavs still have their 2nd round pick?
C’mon….pick Sam….
Yes, the Cavs still have pick #46
@ DCBucks – yes
@JonesOnTheNBA “Patty Mills told me he had a great workout with Cleveland yesterday. Maybe they will pick him up here.”
I’d like to see them use that pick on a guard btw
Who?
??????????????
WTF?!?
Of course. Why not?
Wait, wait…what the heck just happened….
WTF WTF WTF?!!!!!
really?
Is this some cruel joke?
WTF?!?!?!?!?!?
wow.
this film looks like it is from brecksville’s gym
Uh. What?
Fran Fraschilla – “he’s nowhere near ready”
ruh roh
He weighs 99lbs soaking wet. Why can the Cavs not ever just draft someone that is ready to play in the NBA?
oh fantastic… one of those guys that you draft and hold onto and never hear again.
uggggggh.
Danny Ferry is high.
From Windy-
Looking through draft guide now. Sorry, know nothing about him
WTF????? Basically Ferry is saying that Blair, Young, Brown, Mills aren’t worth a 2nd Division guy from the CONGO?
Man, I got nothin.
Well at least he made all his shots in the highlight reel, that’s a start.
How many “projects” can one team possibly waste draft picks on?
WTF….some dude from the Congo? Why not Sam Young or DaJaun Blair?
Did you see his scoring avg? 0.8 ppg
Nice pick Danny. Since when are we trying to save money????
Dejuan Blair and Sam Young: Both on the board and they select Desagna Diop 2.0.
I understand that Young or Blair aren’t really the scond coming of Karl Malone, but it beats saying pass…
Did anyone screen this pick with LeBron?
Cursed Cleveland FTW
Walking away from the TV and my computer for a bit. I am fuming.
Cavs’ pick grades to an F.
I wonder if that pick means we have something in the works… Sheed? CV??
He can go play with Ejike Ugboaja
Oi.
freaking depressing.
i am trying to look on the bright side here: he WAS crazy athletic, at least.
I’d be happy if this dude is Diop 2.0 – at least he played some NBA games… draft and follow is a baseball thing, not a basketball thing.
Do the cavs have a 2nd rounder or not? some places it says we traded this year’s pick and some say future second?
The NBA is laughing at us….again.
or a mutombo, get your finger wag ready
that was @ lars
If I owned the Cavs, I don’t care what Ferry has done with trades, he’d be so effing fired right now. Easily the worst drafter EVER.
I’d rather we brought Shawn Kemp back. Who the F is this dude?
And, btw, I played in a nicer gym in 6th grade.
Danny Ferry haz draft failz.
@190 Yes the Cavs have pick #46 the trade with Shaq turned out to be for next year’s 2nd rounder
So today we pick up a 37 year old center in his last season and a guy who has a 20% chance of ever putting on the Wine & Gold.
I’ve ALWAYS thought that LeBron was going to re-sign here in 2010. Today, I’m not so sure. We better win the title next year… it is the last chance we have
The Cavs miraculously topped the Browns for Draft Day ineptitude.
what was wrong with Dejuan Blair? He averaged 16 and 12 as a soph at a big time school. AAARRRGHH!!
Tweet from Windy – “Christian Eyenga. He’s not in the draft guide and wasn’t even in the Spanish A League. Uhhhhh, still collecting information.”
WORST PICK EVER
@ DocZeus- that was even worse than taking a long snapper!
“last year he looked like he couldn’t shoot the ball at all”
From scouting report. Nice.
Did this dude even know that he was eligible for the draft?
Thanks Rick– Hopefully # 46 won’t be some one Fran loves from Fiji.
If this is part of some master plan for Fairy to get Bosh in 2010, it better pan out. Otherwise, he’s half the GM as he was player.
The way things are going, Young and Blair may still be there at 46.
Blair would’ve been a nice backup to Andy this year. Even with bad knees, he’d still be worth the risk at #30. Powe had knee problems too, remember.
Is there a chance the Cavs try to trade up for Young or Blair? Wait a minute… why the hell would they do that if they passed on them to begin with!
@205. Obviously because they didn’t think Eyenga would be there at 43.
I hear we’re going to draft some 14 year old from Uzbekistan Prep and groom him to start in 2013.
I’ve got an idea, let’s stash this guy overseas. That way, when Lebron leaves next year, Christian can come over and fill his roster spot.
Huh, guys? Pretty smart.
No Dejuan, no young, no summers, no brown????
A bunch of the GM’s went out before the draft and as a result they are all drunk!
Exactly AMC…come on Windy, that was a swing and a miss.
Death comes in 3s. Ferry’s career completes the set.
all i can say is
lmfao
totally cleveland
I am so angry right now. How does this team just completely punt on the chance to improve themselves in the draft?
Maybe it’s a cap space clearing move by Ferry. Draft a first rounder you have no intention of signing. According to ESPN, he was on the same team as Rubio, but a 2nd squad guy.
Again, we collapse under our own Cleveland’ness.
My best guess is that with the extra luxury tax money the Cavs picked up today in Shaq, Gilbert simply wanted to save $1 million? I mean, that’s the BEST answer I can think of. That’s all I got.
Chad Ford’s evaluation of young Christian:
“Projected: late 2nd round – undrafted”
“He’s a down- the-road pick for the Cavs. We’ll check back in on him in a few years.”
Basically, we’ll see you in 2013, Christian. If you haven’t learned to play, then we’ll bring you back in 2015.
People get a clue…seriously. They are talking Pietrus talent (wouldnt he have looked good in the wine and gold instead of the Orlando blue and black this year). If we do not draft him, someone else does. This is classic SA Spurs drafting strategy. Get a high upside guy that you can stash away for a while. If the Cavs had taken Blair or Summers or Young what would they have gotten – a BENCH player. Wake up! Neither of those guys were going to come in play a major role yet any role (especially if we mid-level a Matt Barnes type).
Just checked….the #30 pick gets $824,200. So Gilbert just saved himself 800k, I guess.
How pumped is Eyenga, getting to wear a non-mesh jersey for the first time in his life. Is The Big Cuyahoga gonna interview or what? Stew’s lazy eyes are officially pissing me off.
So, basically Ferry just saved the $500,000 that they had to give the Suns.
dejuan summers looks like a rashard lewis prototype
Really, if we hadn’t been told earlier that the Cavs were really trying to do something then we wouldn’t have had any expectations of this pick.
I prefer Courtney Lee in New Jersey, and Carter in Orlando.
WHO???????????? Come on Ferry a guy from Congo? Not one of those college players were good enough? Terrible pick oh man.
The Shaq interview already happened by the way
Just bought his jersey.
Why is Sam Young still available?
Nevermind
Young is gone…
and blair.
And there goes Blair
San Antonio just got the steal of the draft.
WTF was Ferry thinking… they just blew a chance to get a solid role player for dirt cheap! Now Blair will be in SA. THEY know how to draft. I hope they buy a second rd pick and grab Brown at least.
Blair coming off the bench in San Antonio. Great.
Big surprise, the Spurs draft a 20 yr old PF who was projected top 10. Yay!
Danny sure learned a lot from being in San Antonio.
Windhorst-
As Michael Reghi just said, we were all fools. And we thought they were trying to trade up. Ha!
Um, guess why we thought they were trading up?
Quick the Cavs pick in less than 15 minutes….what starnge nation will the next draft pick be from?
Ooh, Ooh, Vatican City! Or Liechtenstein!
too bad herve valechez isn’t still alive, he’d be a great pick for ferry
Sweden’s off the board.
The kid from St. Mary’s, maybe?
I could have even accepted if the Cavs would have sold that pick for $500K to someone.
Seychelles, Equatorial Guinea, and there’s always the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is different from the Republic of Congo. That was we’d have both Congos covered.
So, a serious question- how much do ticket prices go up next year?
“I could have even accepted if the Cavs would have sold that pick for $500K to someone.”
For real.
Normally, I never pay attention to the Cavs drafts, but I got excited this year thinking they might do something exciting. Instead, they take the Michael Mitchel of this draft… I said it, Ferry reminds me of Al Davis trying to draft.
The Cavs disappoint even in the off season. Yay.
Ok, so they are going to take Mills I suppose.
A lot of people seem to like Danny Green too. I don’t think he’s that athletic, but at least he’s experienced…
pretty much whoever they select now will be better then some guy from Congo… who played in the 2nd division in some Spanish league…
yeah, I suppose that would make sense too, but I’m assuming that they are going to address the Forward position through Free Agency. They need another guard on the roster.
why can’t the cavs just draft domestically?
if they get Mills now then they won’t be complete failures
cavs on the clock with Green and Mills on the board. Which means nothing tonight…
I’m half expecting to be drafted with their next pick. I’m standing by the phone.
Because Minny is really thin on guards, they take Calathes…nice.
I agree, I’d rather have Mills.
I’m ready, Ferry, pick me!
Aw jeeze, here we go….
I’m ok with DGreen.
How exactly do you improve ‘athleticism?’ Very nice ESPN.
I’d feel better if they had made that pick about an hour ago…
Why get 2 forwards? are they planning on finding another guard somehow?
blair/young and green would have been a very good draft in my opinion
Wouldnt Blair/ Young and Mills have been nice? Im just so confused with what Ferry just did.
Danny Green F from North Carolina-
from ESPN-
Positives:
# All-around player who excels on both ends of the floor
# Offensively very smooth
# Has a nice stroke with growing NBA 3-point range
# He’s a good rebounder for his position
# A potential lockdown defender
# Tough, great basketball IQ
Negatives:
# Just an average athlete
# Not particularly explosive
# Lacks great lateral quickness
# More than a role player in the pros?
I can’t hide my Carolina bias, but I love this pick a lot. For the 2nd year in a row, too, the Cavs picked a guy from the National Championship team, which I think is a nice quality. Green can fill Sasha’s “role” on the team at worst, so I feel a little better now.
@ Bobby- forget 2 forwards. The first guy isn’t coming to America this year. He is a project pick. They have no intention to sign him to a deal.
There’s your Sasha/Wally replacement I guess.
I’m doing a Car Bomb tonight in celebration of the Cavs drafting Danny Green. Clevelanders better get that joke (especially eastsiders.)
What moves are there to make in FA that could fill the holes the Cavs left?
You can count on the Cavs signing Rasheed. I just know in the pit of my bowels that it’s going to happen.
@ Bobby- first, they have to resign Andy Varejao. Then they go hard after Matt Barnes. That is my guess.
@ Rock- I won’t allow my bowels to consider Sheed.
I know. It makes me sick, too. I just know it’s going to happen, though.
Ferry is interviewed next on ESPN!!!
We should go after Childress with the MLE
How is Danny Green and The Congolese Middle Schooler (As He Shall Know Be Known) better than DeJuan Blair and Patrick Mills?
There’s no point in going after Childress. Atlanta would definitely match the MLE for him.
For the second time tonight, cursedclevelanddotcom FTW.
I’m out…falling asleep at the keybo;klajsfzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Rock, my hope was with their money woes (the Josh Smith rumors) they’d be willing to let him walk.
I like the Green pick. Seems like a solid role player type from a winning program. It will make me feel a little better about the Cavs completely wasting their first round pick. I guess they just felt like they wanted to save that million dollars for veteran contracts and maybe taking on salary through sign and trades.
Obviously tonight in a rather uneventful manner, but it’s pretty clear to me that the Cavs are far from done this off-season. Today they added two pieces. After July 8 the rest will start to come into play.
It would take more than the MLE for Atlanta to let him go, unfortunately. They’re comfortable paying him the MLE.
On an unrelated note, Goran Suton going to Utah makes all the sense in the world. I could have smelled that pick a mile away.
On a more unrelated note, WFNY set a record for number of comments in a 24 hour period today…
I think they still need a PF to come in, and maybe a guard too?
This linup is just looking like it has holes-
C- Shaq
PF- AV
SF- LBJ
G- West
G- Mo
Bench- Z, Boobie, hickson, Jackson, Green…. any other name im missing here?
well, Kinsey is a possibility still.
Cavs definitely need another guard. Especially if Boobie plays like he did last year.
so right now we are looking at adding Matt Barnes and thinking this team is ready to go? thats disheartening…
I agree Bobby – a backup PG and an athletic swingman are definitely in order.
Btw… Ferry was scheduled on ESPN but hasn’t shown up – any chance he’s trying to buy a pick to get Patrick Mills?
I sure hope hes trying to buy something… maybe he is trying to explain the mistake he made to the NBA saying that he had Sam Young on his card but accidently gave them one that they had written up as a joke
I don’t know how many moves you think this team has left to make. They can sign one player with the MLE, and fill the roster with minimum contracts.
Funny, but we (the WFNY writers) were getting ripped all day because we weren’t calling the Shaq deal the steal of the decade. Sasha and Wallace were the only real bargaining pieces we had, and so whatever we did with those picks was basically it.
And that was before they passed on using their first round pick.
How many trades have the Rockets made now? I think that’s 3 in the second round.
That’s what I was thinking Tim, how many players do they need?
I still thought 2-3 role players would be added, and the Cavs would buy a higher pick then what they had, and actually get someone people had heard of before.
I don’t know, it’s ridiculous. Anyone know of a site that lists all these trades? I can’t find anything like that on ESPN.
So, do they call LeBron ahead of the announcement and explain what’s about to happen so LeBron doesn’t react like we do?
Eyenga said the Cavs gave him no indication they were going to draft him. He just came to MSG hoping to get picked by someone.- Windhurst tweet
People need to relax. The difference between Sam Young and Danny Green isn’t big at all, Green actually has room to improve while Young probably doesn’t.
How can you people call Ferry an idiot when none of you studied nearly the amount of tape, played nearly as much basketball, and don’t have the solid track record that Ferry has with the Cavs? Don’t like the Shaq trade? Well then offer me up a deal that you would do… How do you know that teams didn’t just flat out refuse to trade with us? YOU DON’T. They didn’t wanna pay a guaranteed contract to a guy who probably isn’t going to help a CHAMPIONSHIP contending team, and opted to develop some kid.
GO CAVS
I hate Mark Jackson
I just bet my brother 100 dollar that Eyenga never plays a game with Lebron in a Cavs uniform. Easiest money, I will ever make.
Oh, and the Tribe lost while we were at it.
Nice night….
I was off doing man things and didn’t watch much of the draft, but I did do a wtf when I saw the Cavs 1st rounder. I like the Green pick. But yea.
My bowels are afraid of Sheed, but it’ll happen. Also afraid of fiber, but I don’t think it’s just me.
The odds of picking a successful NBA player at no. 30 is probably 5 to 1. Rather than take a risk on a higher profile player that would probably not contribute to a championship, the Cavs preserved a couple million dollars of next year’s cap which they can use to help obtain another high-level free agent (e.g. Bosh). Also, Green could help this year and will cost considerably less than a similar player taken in the first round. No matter your gut reaction, this was well played by the Cavs.
I was more disappointed that after all the trade talk and possibilities of buying a pick to move up and get someone who could contribute (they still need 2 role players to help out), they got someone who may get to the NBA someday. If they got Blair then Im sitting here thinking, wow, they did a great job with keeping their picks. If they got Blair, they may not need another PF right away. Green might become the wing F that they are looking for, who knows right now. but point is, it seemed like they missed out on a chance to get players to help this year when they are trying to win a championship.
love the danny green car bomb reference, cursedcleve. i thought the same thing immediately. after all, i am from the east of cleveland and have drank 1 too many bombs myself.
