Rookies Report: Browns Open Camp

Written By:  Rick   |  Category:  Cleveland Browns   |  Comments:   16

Today the Cleveland Browns start training camp. Sort of. It is the first day for rookies to report, but with the top picks still unsigned, you have to wonder what exactly they will be doing. Until the Browns get Alex Mack and the two WRs signed they might as well have said defensive rookies please report. The public is not invited to these sessions (in truth they never are, but don’t feel bad, the media won’t be there either.) So when can you get your first look at the new regime in action? The Browns officially open camp with public sessions on Saturday August 1st. All practices (for now) are scheduled for 2 hours. Here is the schedule from the Browns official site-

Get there early, folks. Lou Groza Blvd and Front Street are a mess with the construction. Odds are, you’ll have to park at Finnie and hike it a little bit.

    It’s good for ya…

That family looks like they’re having a lot of fun. Must not realize they’re at a preseason training camp for the Cleveland Browns.

Plenty of time for Magina to bus the FA’s to Connecticut to work the food tables at his father’s shriner’s banquet.

I’m ready for another 4-12 season, too, Rob. Despite the fact that Browns won’t be able to move the ball this year, how, possibly could it be any worse than watching the Tribe? At least it’s only once a week that we’ll be subject to the misery.

    @9

It will be nice to watch the Browns actually score a touchdown. I’m looking forward to that.

@6 dont worry Charlie, with Jamarcus Russell’s IQ and Robert Gallery protecting your blind-side you should have a great year.

On a side note: Cribbs, Browns still talking

Is Cribbs worth any trade value?

WHAT???????????????? Josh Cribbs the best player on the team as far as we know…….that lame brain that filled in today on All Bets Are Off said Josh was dumb and couldn’t learn plays! What an idiot. He is engaged, if any of you know his fiance please tell her to run fast. No woman should have to be with this jerk!

I believe it.. he isnt a good route runner right now (Cribbs). He is not the best player on this team. Maybe the most explosive, and perhaps exciting, but I would not say the best. He is expendable. Having J Cribbs is more of a luxury then a necessity.

I also don’t think the browns will be 4-12. Ill be looking for a 8-8 season. The OL should be good again, esp. if Tucker is healthy. I wonder if Fraley or Mack could play the RG spot, and have Pork chop, Foster, and Hadnot as backups. With an improved OL, the running game should be better, esp. with Harrison playing more too. then the QBs should be better getting a possession receiver (hopefully in robo, but Patten could work possibly as well). I hope om not looking at this with blinders on, but I think the browns have dramatically improved since the last 6 games last year.

Please frame the above comments by bobby and play them back after the season. Unbelievable, talk about unfettered rose colered lenses.

Cribbs more a luxery than a necessity……..sir, that statement is so lacking in credibility it renders anything else moot.

I’m interested in how this season is going to play out. I have ZERO expectations, so it’s impossible for me to be dissapointed going in. Anything positive that happens will be a total treat.

Isis- Your saying that every team needs a J Cribbs? NO! Do the Pats, Colts, Steelers, or Cards have a game breaker like Cribbs? NO! So yes, Cribbs is a luxury to have in the NFL. It is not necessary to win to have a dynamic returner that puts you in good field position, but it is a LUXURY when that happens.

I said i hope im not looking on it with blinders on (admitting I MAY BE WRONG) but that I am thinking the team will be better. They have have (what I think) a better team and a weaker schedule, which in my mind equates to more wins. Isis, do you think the browns got worse then last year? The only position where they significantly down graded in talent is TE, but hopefully we won’t be getting those ridiculous offense pass interference every time there is a first down.
