While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.

Although the Heat made their intentions known earlier in the evening, Super Jamario officially became a Cavalier as the clock struck midnight: “Per a Tweet from Bob Finnan, the Miami Heat have notified the Cavaliers that they will not match the Cavs’ 3-year offer to Jamario Moon making Moon a member of the Cavaliers.  The deal is reportedly worth $8.92 million over 3 years, with the first two years of the contract guaranteed.  It was the 2nd season, 2010, that made the Heat leery of matching since it would take away some financial flexibility in an already draining free agent market next summer.” [John Bena/Fear the Sword]

Good luck with that: “Even with Rip and Tayshaun, this leaves the Pistons in great shape for the next couple of years, age wise, considering that they are only 29 and 31 respectively.   As enticing as the prospect of this youthful team seems, we need an elder statesman among the group and I am calling for Joe Dumars to make that elder statesman none other than Ben Wallace.  As many of you know, national reports have put Ben Wallace and Rasho Nesterovich as the two main targets of the Pistons to round out the 09/10 season roster (barring any sort of trade, of course).” [Jack Pinellas/Detroit4Lyfe]

The official holdout of Josh Cribbs is on the horizon: “For the second time this week, Cleveland Browns officials and Josh Cribbs’ representatives held a conference call to discuss the Pro Bowl return specialist’s contract situation. The latest conversation happened Thursday, according to a source, and lasted roughly three hours.  Cribbs didn’t take part in the conference call, sources said. However, the Browns are scheduled to hold a face-to-face meeting with Cribbs…and a final decision on whether to report on time will come after the face-to-face meeting with team officials, the source said.” [Jason LaCanfora/NFL.com]

ESPN is doing a one-on-one interview series with all the NFL quarterbacks.  It is undetermined if they will interview both of the Browns QBs or maybe just skip straight to what will surely be end of the season starter Brett Ratliff.  If you missed DA’s interview with Ed Werder on Sportscenter (and want to brush up on your meaningless NFL cliches before the season starts), you can view it in full here.  [AFC North Blog/ESPN.com]

Maybe he just wants off the sinking ship: “Gimenez discovered his passport was missing Thursday morning before catching his first game of the season. He tore his hotel room apart, but couldn’t find it.  Big-league players, like all travelers to Canada, need a passport to get in and out of the country.  After catching the Indians’ 5-4 victory over Toronto, in which he singled, scored a run and drove in a run, Gimenez said, ‘Everybody was talking about playing poker on the flight to Seattle, but I might be in Toronto for a few days.’ ” [Paul Hoynes/Plain Dealer]

Gilbert and Ferry are doing everything to make LeBron happy enough to stay here after 2010… they even gave him The Sun and The Moon!

I agree with Kevin. Btw that was a good one! The Cavs organization just blows the other two away. They are making all the right moves and doing everything to keep the good times rolling at the Q. November cannot come soon enough!

From Brian Windhorst’s twitter on July 21:

“Classic… RT @the_Mike_Babin: If deal goes thru what more can LeBron ask from Ferry, he’s given him a Sun and a Moon this offseason…”

I’m not saying two people can’t come up with a similarly clever line, but the OED has it first referenced to the_Mike_Babin.

That Detroit4lyfe excerpt is some high comedy.

    For what it’s worth:

Following Ed Werder’s interview w DA on ESPN, both Cris Carter and Mark Schlereth opined that DA should start for the Browns in ‘09.

Schlereth has been a BQ hater from the beginning, so that doesn’t surprise me.
