Daniel Gibson Signs Extension
Cleveland Cavaliers Sign Guard Daniel Gibson to 5 Year Extension
One down, one to go. The Cavaliers announced Wednesday that they have signed Daniel Gibson to a 5 year deal.
Mary Schmitt Boyer wrote in the Plain Dealer,
“The Cavaliers have come to terms with guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson on a multi-year contract. The length of the contract is five years, according to NBA sources.
The 6-2, 194-pound guard, 22, became a fan favorite because of his shooting touch and ready smile. Not to mention that nickname.”
The good news about this is that it means Daniel Gibson is going to be around for a long time. As long as his 3 point shot stays sharp and he continues to develop aspects of his game, he will figure to be a key core member of the Cavs rotation well into the future.
We’ll wait until we hear the details of the deal before we comment on what impact this will have on the Cavaliers in the future, but now we at least know of one player who will still be in Cleveland if LeBron should happen to decide to take his craft elsewehere in 2 years.
With the Gibson deal done, the Cavaliers’ lone expected free agent signing is starting Point Guard Delonte West. It was rumored that the Gibson deal was close to being done, so this isn’t a big surprise. The talks with West were said to be “progressing”, but weren’t believed to be as far along as the Gibson talks.

Sweet.
Now can we do something about this nickname? I can’t stand it.

You don’t like the nickname? OK let me present some alternatives:
1. Jugs
2. Hooters (also a great opportunity for a sponsorship deal here)
3. Gazungas
4. Tits McGee
5. Breastacular
Good to see Gibson staying, now lets see how Delonte works out

i know we all expected this signing and everything, but i am still very relieved. i never “expect” any cleveland team to make the right move (with the exception of Phil Savage cause he’s the man). i think gibson is only going to get better in the next few years. and at the very least, this gives Lebron a little more incentive to stick around Cleveland to hang out with his non-JayZ best friend Daniel Gibson.

As long as this isn’t a $75 million five-year deal I am good with it.

It’s good to see one of our guys just shut up and re-sign without putting up a stink after witnessing the nonsense garbage last summer. I still can’t get over what Varejao pulled last summer, but Pavlovic??!?!!
Good job, Boobie, in making these two stooges look like complete jokes. Now let’s get Delonte in the mix and focus on J.J.’s development this summer.
