Cover Boy?

I find it hard to believe that LeBron hasn’t been on a video game cover yet. I don’t play many games anymore, and so I guess I assumed he had been on covers previously. The Sporting Blog tipped us to the story that NBA ‘09 might be featuring our own all-time points leader on its cover. Why do we say might? Well the pictures and information that was released doesn’t say for certain, but the menu shot sure looks like a potential cover repeat.
The Sporting Blog was still awaiting confirmation from Sony, so we’ll keep our ears and eyes posted.
Meanwhile LeBron and his Team USA teammates will begin practicing in Las Vegas next week. They play an exhibition game with Canada on the 25th in Vegas, then depart for four more tune-ups. They will play Turkey (July 31st), Lithuania (August 1st), Russia (August 3rd) and Australia (August 5th). The Olympic schedule kicks off for the Americans on August 10th against Yao Ming and the Chinese National Team.

Hmm, that looks photoshopped. I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes the cover (or would you rather have a known philanderer like Kobe on the cover??), but I wouldnt’ be surprised if it doesn’t look like that.

Well, if it is ‘photoshopped’, it wasn’t I that did it…

There’s no Madden -like curse attached to that, is there?

I dont know, Arenas is on the cover for NBA Live 08. They did also have ‘featured’ players on the game menu that consisted of video footage with players (Lebron, Dirk and Bosh for example) busting out thier moves in real life.
Coverboy Arenas didnt have such a great year but I think he is overrated anyways. I dont know how well previous cover players have done.

I could see LeBron easily being cover boy, but this picture is obviously a poor try to replicate what it may look like.

#1 — Not photoshopped. That was directly downloaded from Sony’s press release during E3 in Los Angeles. (I should know, it’s my post.)
#4 — This is in reference to Sony’s NBA franchise, not to be confused with EA’s NBA LIVE franchise, which is produced across multiple platforms. The game in question with LeBron potentially on the cover is only produced for the Sony consoles.

Does it really have to be on the WORST basketball videogame on the market. Its the option left this year with NBA 2K9 having KG and NBA Live 09 having TONY PARKER of all people. I would rather “wait for next year” than have him grace NBA 09.
