WFNY Remembers Braylon Edwards

Written By:  Scott   |  Category:  Cleveland Browns   |  Comments:   10

braylonedWaiting For Next Year broke ground in February of 2008.  Since then, we’ve shared a ton of Cleveland sporting events together.  Some good, some bad – most bad if we exclude the Cavaliers.  But what occurred to me was  just how good things were with the Cleveland Browns when we kicked off our proverbial season here at WFNY.  Specifically, how we all felt about Braylon Edwards.

After the jump, you’ll find a timeline of sorts.  By no means to I anticipate you all clicking every link.  Instead, I’ve titled them as appropriately as possible, chronicling the last two years that we have spent with our (former) No. 17.  It’s tough to pinpoint just when things started to go completely sour (August 10th of 2008 is a decent start), but boy did things drop off quickly.

Shouldn’t he be dropping that pass in the picture? That’s how I will fondly remember Edwards…

Is it me or does Braylon Edwards the real life Roger Dorn?

    From Major League:

Jake Taylor: What I was concerned with was why you didn’t come up with that grounder that Rockert hit in the 9th
Roger Dorn: It was out of my reach, what do you want me to do dive for it?
Jake Taylor: Rog, it could have meant the game!
Roger Dorn: oh come on cut the rah rah [crap] Taylor! Year after this I go free agent. Plus me and my agent got a couple of plans for life after baseball. So I am not about to risk major injury or displace this property for a collection of stiffs!
Jake Taylor: Ya know Dorn, I liked you so much better when you were just a ballplayer. If you wanna be an interior decorator now that’s none of my business. But some of us still need this team. Now you listen to me! This is my last shot at a winner and for some of the younger guys it could be their only shot. I don’t know what happened to you. But if you ever, ever tank another play like you did today, I’m gonna cut your nuts off and stuff em down your throat!

I hope his modeling career takes off in NYC because at this rate he will be out of the league quicker than Tim Couch

Edwards couldn’t catch passes before 2007 and hasn’t been able to catch since. I hear Derek’s glad he’s gone, but BQ was wearing his shoes…I didn’t think a man of his “stature” had big enough feet. DA’s glad he’s gone because, let’s face it, Edwards’ drops are why DA lost his starting job. BQ is sad because now he’s back to holding the clipboard. Makes sense to me.
