Breaking Tribe News: Permission Granted to Talk to Farrell
October 12, 2009Everybody Might Be Right Concerning Browns QBs

“[Braylon] Edwards looked like exactly what rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez needs to carry the Jets to a playoff berth. A 6′3″, 215-pound, athletic receiver with a Pro Bowl background will instill a lot of confidence in a young quarterback. Sanchez looked for Edwards early and often Monday night and the pair looked to have some sort of chemistry. Which is amazing since this was Braylon’s first week with the Jets. It makes you wonder why Edwards went into hiding all those months ago?” [Rumors and Rants]

“The only thing that has a chance to keep pace with the New York/LeBron/Free Agency stories is the creation of LeBron/Cleveland/Stay Here websites. Add another to the mix with NoYork.com, which is offering this shirt in classic wine and gold Cavs colors and distinctive Cavs plumage thing (I never know what to call it, but I dig it.)” [Vince/FirstCuts]

Rasheed Wallace thinks this year’s Celtics could be the greatest team in the history of the Association. [CT News via Skeets/BDL]

“Whatever the talent level on this Cleveland Browns team, [this week’s] win — the way it went down — was the clearest signal we’ve received since when (?) that there’s a right way and a wrong way to do things in Brownstown. It’s safe to say that the Browns won by thoroughly dominating one aspect of the football game. This, one of those games that for the better part of the last decade was one that the Cleveland Browns would have lost.” [Cleveland Frowns]

Edwards wasn’t going to play for these guys, he made that clear a long time ago. At least we got something for him now, as opposed to losing him at the end of the year for nothing.
This year’s Celtics team could be the greatest ever in the association? Glad to see Rasheed still spouts off ridiculous comments at the drop of a hat
I didn’t like Braylon before, and I certainly don’t now. Just add him to the list of players like Manny Ramirez who tank it to get what they want.
Rasheed’s comments hold the same weight that Shaq’s did when he said “This is the greatest team I’ve ever played on.” You have two superstars in new cities, on new teams, what do you expect or want them to say two and half weeks into preseason? Of course they’re going to say those things and win over fans.
Man, would you people quit bashing Braylon? He’s a Jet now…….let it go. Who’s your next target? (unfortunately it won’t be directed where it should be).
I will not quit bashing Braylon. I will bash whatever NFL player I want whenever I want b/c that’s what fans do. They have players they like and players they don’t like, regardless of what city that player calls home.
The way it looked last night we might be getting that 2nd rounder after all.
These are two completely different statements. Shaq made a personal observation regarding his experiences. Sheed is just talking out of his arse.
I personally would like to see Braylon do well so it would benefit the Browns in terms of getting a 2nd rounder out of the deal.
Why should we quit bashing Braylon? He actually broke up an interception last night ( something he would never, ever, do in Cleveland ), Ran crisp routes and (gasp!) caught the ball when thrown to him.
As far as I’m concerned, the guy is a quitter. When things aren’t going his way, he plays half assed and screws his team. If that doesn’t deserve the ire of the fans of this town, then certainly don’t know what ever would.
Isis you really need to stop reading this site, it’s not good for your blood pressure
I wasn’t incredibly impressed last night. He had a couple good catches but what were his final stats? 65 yards? He also had a drop, and was saved by a ticky tack pass interference call.
Whenever these loudmouth receivers get traded (Keyshawn, Randy Moss, T.O.) people think “what a steal!” Until they’re traded again because they’re tearing apart the team.
Either way, he wasn’t working out here. No matter what happens in NY, the return is gravy.
Those were all tough catches though. He hasn’t had a chance to drop the easy ones yet.
Browns current streak: One win.
Braylon’s current streak: 10 losses.
I tuned in briefly last night only to hear the announcers gushing — GUSHING — over Edwards because he came back toward the QB to catch a pass. Couldn’t take it.
More on Braylon coming at 1:00 PM… Browns QB post coming at 10:00 AM…
@15: YAY drama!
Braylon played well last night and the Jets lost. I’m sure he’ll wake up the happiest he’s been in years because it’s all about Braylon. Maybe to treat himself he’ll go get some “Glamour Shots ” taken.
@9 My thoughts exactly.
I’m going to be rooting for him to dominate because the better he does, the better the chances are that we get a 2nd Rd. pick for him. Now, what the Browns do with that pick is a whole different story. I mean he was leaving at the end of the season anyways, I’m happy we got something for him instead of just letting him walk.
Any word on how many balls he has to catch in order for the pick to become a 2nd rounder?
i hope braylon does well in his honeymoon time in NY this year. I’m all for getting a pick in the 2nd round. Just wait til he signs big money next year and then implodes.
Braylon = Vince Carter
I don’t know if there is gonna be a post on the Cavs “game” last night, but having the pleasure of getting free tix and sticking around for 3 qtrs, I figured I would spit some observations:
-Say all you want about how bad regular refs are, these replacements actually make you miss them. They called so few fouls in the first half, instead proving that they know what defensive 3 seconds is time and time again, only to come out in the second half and try to make up for the missed calls. There were more whistles in the second half than there are in a football game. Even Joe Tait was joking on the refs as I listened to him in the 4th qtr.
-Speaking of Tait, listening to him try to pronounce the Greek names was priceless.
-With everyone that sat out last night’s game, I actually felt bad for Z watching him play with guys that are just trying to fight to make the roster. He has been a starter his whole career and now he’s on the court with nobodies…
-Lastly, Dan Gilbert is pushing hard to get you to vote yes on Issue 3. He had a video on the JumboTron during a timeout, and they threw out t-shirts to push the cause during another. My guess is that he already has plans to build a casino…and you know what? If Dan Gilbert says vote yes on 3, then you better believe I’m voting yes on 3. I could care less about politics personally, but I’d kill a man if Dan Gilbert told me to…
I too was there, J. And I share your sentiments exactly. May get a post out of it this afternoon. Thanks!
Oh Sheed, thanks for making me smile
but I’d kill a man if Dan Gilbert told me to…
