Rich Rod Hates Kids, Tradition; Loves Illegal Practices

It seems that new woodchucks coach Rich Rodriguez is still not making friends in the Michigan community. This time he is hurting the youngest UM fans. From M-Live.com-
Larry Preston, one of the directors of the event which raises money for Saginaw youth recreation, said he learned today that no University of Michigan football players are able to take part in Wednesday’s benefit.
Preston said U-M officials told him first-year U-M football coach Rich Rodriguez and his staff have scheduled a mandatory strength and conditioning workout for the players on Wednesday.
“It’s a big disappointment for all of us,” Preston said. “The (U-M) players always have said how much they enjoy Heroes For Kids, and the strength and conditioning coach (Mike Barwis) said he wants to work with us on this next year.
“But this workout is mandatory, and all players must attend. It’s coach Rod’s call on that. This is his first year (at U-M), and he’s doing everything he can to make sure his team is successful.”
That’s just awesome. Now, I understand that college coaches and programs get asked to do a million things a year, and sometimes you have to say no. But this is an event the Michigan players have been supporting for 4 years, and was started by former player Lamarr Woodley. The event is called Heroes for Kids. Guess who won’t be a hero after this week?
Oh yeah, one other thing. According to NCAA rules, no team is allowed to have “mandatory conditioning” at this point in the summer. We all understand how those things work, it isn’t mandatory wink, wink. But to tell a charity event none of your players can come because it’s a mandatory conditioning session? Rich Rod, you really need to learn what this phrase means- Do The Right Thing.

Ohio State should jump all over this and send some players up there to work with the kids. It would be both a classy move and a way to stick it to the school up north. Win-win.

Nice to see Rich Rod continuing his classy ways. WVU should be glad they got rid of this guy.

Way to support the community. Michigan fans aren’t gonna put up with his crap, are they? He’s one Chris Henry away from being in big trouble with his fanbase.
Why do we keep worrying about the things Rich Rod does in Michigan. It’s just a stepping stone up for him and he already showed he doesn’t care about anyone else…why limit your pity just to Kids.
Dick Rod has a better ring to it.
Too bad Doug Worthington couldn’t have driven some OSU players up there….
Hopefully at some point in the year Carr will bury his boot up Rich’s rear end and remind him that his job is about more than football practice. I’m no fan of the school up north, but Carr was a classy guy and I respect him for the way he ran his program, stayed true to his fans, and cared about his university. I feel bad for the Michigan fans, they deserve a better coach than this.
