While We’re Waiting… O’Brien’s Firing, Turner’s Triple-Double, and Brown’s Game Worn Helmet
While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
“I would love to hear more regarding the dismissal of Erin O’Brien, who according to various reports, served as some sinister agent of mayhem, adhering to the clandestine boss’s every whim. Although others suggest that O’Brien was no more than Mangini’s executive baby-sitter and chief manicurist. Whatever her role was within the organization, it is a telling sign that one of Mangini’s own is no longer with the Browns.” [Cleveland Reboot]

The Villain hits the ground running: “Evan Turner put up the second recorded triple-double in Ohio State basketball history in the Buckeyes’ season-opening 100-60 win over Alcorn State on Monday. [...] In his first game as the starting point guard after playing on the wing a year ago, Turner put up 14 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists with just two turnovers, wrapping up in an easy and headline-worthy stat line just what kind of all-around force he’s ready to become this year.” [Doug Lesmerises/Plain Dealer]

Bid on a game worn Jim Brown helmet from Syracuse. If you can’t, at least check out the story of how and why it is now up for auction. [UniWatchBlog via Rollin' in my Six-Four]

Enjoy the now: “The way I see it, the time to worry if James will stay or go will be when the season is over. Don’t worry about the signs that people make in New York or the opinion of everyone else. When it comes down to it, LeBron James is the only person that can truly answer that question and I don’t see the question getting answered until the season is over.” [Cavs Kingdom]

And finally, the Browns added rookie LB Marcus Benard to the 53-man roster. Perhaps we may actually see a rookie play this Monday. [The OBR] [Browns Gab] [DawgsbyNature]

Telltale Sign #7 that your football team is in a death spireal: you are interested in the dirt behind the demise of an administrative assistant during Monday Night Football week against a division opponent. Here we go Brownies, here we go …

spiral

@ Harv 21 — I don’t know, “spireal” is sort of good, too. Sadly, this situation is a downward “spiral” but it is also, sadly, very “real,” so “spireal” is good. Like shamockery. Only worse.

Anyone got pics of this Erin O’Brien? Let’s be honest, we really only care about this story if she’s a looker.

I wonder if Jim Brown wore an orange helmet in high school too.

I know OSU basketball isn’t a big topic of discussion around here, but pay attention this year. This team is VERY good. Probably the best backcourt in the country. David Lighty is back, Evan Turner is a top 5 pick, Lauderdale is a beast on the glass and if this new Greek center is good, look for OSU to make a serious run in the Tourny.

3 – I didn’t understand any of that

S-Dub: I would love for OSU hoops to get more run, its just a matter of scale at this point. I’m looking forward to their season – Turner coming back was huge. Mullens wasn’t doing anything as it was, so anything that the “Greek” can put up is a plus.

Is the Greek guy named “Jimmy”?
November 10th, 2009 at 10:45 am
i thought “the greek” was busy selling heroin in baltimore, when did he get into basketball?

@ #7- The Greek guys stinks (Sarikopoulos, Zisis)! He is a body off the bench. He had 4 fould in 5 minutes last night without scoring a point! But the backcourt is very strong. If Diebler and Buford improve to meet their potential this year they have a very good shot at a Big Ten Title.

The Buckeyes have a GREAT team this year no doubt, there is just one bad thing they’ve got going. Their schedule! They play UNC, @Butler, and the AMAZING Big Ten this year. I tell you what, if you are tired of getting disrespected for being a Big Ten Football fan, basketball is here to rescue you! Many are calling the Big Ten the best conference in hoops this year and i look forward to seeing how the Bucks handle it! And just think, if this season doesn’t work out, the Buckeyes have a Thad Five level recruiting class coming in again next year!
