While We’re Waiting…Ravens MNF Struggles, Big 10 Too Conservative, Hoping for CP3 in CLE
While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.

Browns could be the cure: “Playing on a primetime stage before a national audience has not been a kind setting for the Ravens, who have lost their last five contests on Monday night. The revelation that the team hasn’t won on Monday night since routing the Green Bay Packers, 48-3, on Dec. 19, 2005 was downright earth-shattering to linebacker Terrell Suggs. ‘That’s disturbing…Are we really 0-5? I didn’t even know that until you said it. Hopefully, this streak ends Monday, but like I said, we know they’re cooking up some new stuff over there, and they’re going to defend their own field. So we’ve just got to prepare for everything.’’ [Edward Lee/Ravens Insider]

Tate Forcier will be showing up next weekend for the OSU game: “Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier isn’t transferring. Forcier said after Saturday’s 45-24 loss at Wisconsin that he and coach Rich Rodriguez got in a ‘a little bit of an argument,’ but quarterback and coach are OK — aside from the obvious issue that the Wolverines have lost their last six games against FBS opponents. Forcier told reporters he and Rodriguez had a misunderstanding over practice and a missed study hall. Forcier also said fellow freshman Denard Robinson took all the first-team reps at practice this week. ‘I actually expected him to start,’ Forcier told The Detroit Free Press, ‘but coach Rod threw me out there and I made the most of it.’” [Andy Staples/SI.com]

Surprising that this guy took the negative view: “Welcome to the heartland, home of the Big Ten, a league that doesn’t deserve its own TV network and should respectfully reject a Rose Bowl bid on the basis of stodginess and cowardice. Ever wonder why the best talent routinely heads southward and westward? You should have seen the final minutes of the conference’s unofficial title game Saturday evening, when two prominent head coaches laid down, played for overtime and reminded us why college football in these parts is maddeningly prehistoric. There was Ohio State’s Jim Tressel, the sweater-vested genius who writes self-help books about life, unable to help himself.” [Jay Mariotti/Fanhouse]

But who will be starting?: “Tickets for the Indians’ 2010 April 12 home opener against the Texas Rangers as well as the club’s ‘’six-pack” plans go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 23. Fans who buy four or more tickets for Opening Day or a six-pack on Nov. 23 will receive a Tribe fleece blanket as long as supplies last. In addition, for every Opening Day ticket purchased on Nov. 23, a ticket voucher will be given away that allows fans to buy an upper deck ticket for any other home game in April and May for $5.” [Sheldon Ocker/Akron Beacon Journal]

Watching the Hornets unravel: “From the start of the season, I’m sure I’m not the only one that has kept a very close on eye on what’s going in New Orleans with that team and most importantly with Chris Paul…Why? Well there is no other player in the NBA that LeBron would love to play with more than Chris Paul, who happens to be his closest friend in the NBA. Forget Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron talking about playing together in 2010. CP3 is the guy that LeBron wants to play with most. He’s the one guy who could keep LeBron happy in Cleveland for awhile, which is what makes the whole situation in New Orleans so intriguing.” [Smooth/Cavalier Attitude]

Some weekly NFL Predictions: “For instance, these NFL predictions always fall for the Cleveland Browns. Talk about a team without hope… a team needing change. The situation appears infinitely hopeless. The fans in Cleveland are protesting and the owner is taking his advice from a guy wearing a dog mask – no wait, that’s Eric Mangini. How does he have a job?” [BT/Whatzgonnahappen]

CP3 in Cleveland is a nice dream, but those of you who know something about the financial and other strategic realities facing the two teams would do well to weigh in here. What would New Orleans ask for or likely receive? Does Cleveland have anything that it would willingly give up? Or: Is such speculation just whistling Dixie?

Mariotti is a piece

Here is a truly bizarre poll result. More than 1,600 fans have responded to a Baltimore Sun online poll, and 48% think the Browns will win BY MORE THAN 10 POINTS..
The Sun points out that the “results are not scientific,” but still . . .

I’d poop my pants if we somehow got CP3. I’d give up ANYONE to get him, and I mean that.
November 15th, 2009 at 11:07 am
How about Mo, Z, JJ & another guy off the bench for CP3 & West?
November 15th, 2009 at 11:18 am
I can’t imagine NO would deal both Paul and West. That would be like a football team trading their only viable pass-catching options.

You think that Mariotti article is bad? This piece of filth from CBS’ paid internet troll, Gregg Doyel (hey look, his first AND last names are misspelled, it’s like fate knew he was going to be a crappy writer), makes Mariotti’s rubbish look like actual professional journalism:

They actually have a point about Big Ten football. Having spent many years living in the south, it’s hard coming back up north and getting excited for Ohio State and Big Ten football and these games.

Lol @ Scott (#6) – Great stuff
November 15th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
Haha well played Scott, well played.
As much as I would love to get CP3 in Cleveland, I just don’t see N.O. giving him up, until he only has 1 year left on his contract and they know that he won’t resign. Right now CP3 is the only reason they’re filling seats down there.
I know they’re different situations, but CP3 is to N.O. what Lebron is to Cleveland. There have been many stories about CP3 and what he did for N.O. after Katrina and talks about how much he means to that city. I just can’t see them giving him up w/o getting a ton of talent and picks in return. Just like with us, the city would be devastated if they traded CP3. Atleast they have the Saints I guess.

I think the most viable option according to ESPN’s Trade Machine would be:
Mo Williams and Z for Emeka Okafor and CP3 …. we’d probably have to throw in a 1st round pick as well … but if NO is looking for Salary relief plus talent I don’t know what else could look better for them

Jay Mariotti? I think you mean Jay Sherman.

Mariotti is a piece of trash – but he has a point; I was disgusted by both teams at the end of that game, and I LOVE the Big 10.
