“The Ravens play the hapless Cleveland Browns on Monday night, but these struggles aren’t new to the Browns. From the time the Cleveland Browns returned to the NFL in 1999, they have been a cursed franchise. There have been bad first-round picks, crushing injuries and widespread illnesses. So, what could be the cause of all of these troubles? My theory is the curse of Art Modell. The Cleveland fans’ hatred of Modell, the owner who relocated the team from Cleveland to Baltimore, has placed bad karma on the current Browns team. Until they let their anger go and welcome Modell into the Hall of Fame down the road in Canton, the Browns will continue to languish at the bottom of the league with quarterback controversies and questionable coaches.” [Jamison Hensley/Ravens Insider]

“JJ Hickson. Good god. JJ’s just been a beast in the starting lineup, plain and simple. […] He’s been working that weak-side beautifully. His cuts when LeBron’s in the mid-post are deadly, and he’s got more upside than Andy as a weak-side player because of how much ground he can cover once he makes the catch. […] JJ’s springs could make him a great finisher if that light bulb ever goes off, and if it does the LBJ-Hickson PnR is just going to be scary.” [Cavs the Blog]

“The insertion of Jerome Harrison into the starting lineup, thanks to Jamal Lewis’ nagging injuries/blossoming advocacy career could provide a spark. So far, the pinnacle of Harrison’s season has been the Bengal game, where he ran for over 120 yards. At this point in the season – and in Lewis’ career – it only makes sense to feature a more athletic back.” [Cleveland Reboot]

And may I be the first to invite Jamison Hensley to [several expletives deleted] his [expletives deleted] on a chicken bone.
F@#% Jamison Hensley , f@#$, the Ravens and f@#% Art Modell.
I think Posnaski beat you both to it and put it fairly eloquently:
“I did read this blog in Ravens Insider (I am briefly mentioned in it) about how the new Cleveland Browns are basically cursed because Cleveland fans cannot or will not let go of their Art Modell rage. It’s an interesting theory to which I can only respond (Bleep) the living (bleeping) (bleepity) (bleep) out of (bleeping) Art (Bleeping) Modell. “
Great minds think alike, null.
hall of fame?
/spit
But no mention of him drawing the ire of fans by sneaking our football team out of town under cover of darkness. Interesting.
Has Baltimore forgiven Irsay yet? Probably not.
No need to get emotional over this.
A. Curses don’t exist.
B. Art Modell is one of the worst people in the history of the world.
C. We will never forgive him.
D. That is all.
read the last link, it would seem Josh Cribbs is the best Brown’s player both on and off the field
Add that last Cribbs link to the story about him going to the Stow Senior Night in order to be there for the son of his OC at Kent State who recruited him who died of cancer. You read these two types of stories, look at him giving it his all on the field and you wonder why we won’t pay him what he’s rightfully due at this point.
Him or his son (or grandson?), whenever they put Art Modell in the Hall of Fame, I will be there booing. Loudly. Non-stop.
Back to the 2010 talk….I wonder if LeBron would actually make more money by staying in Cleveland and signing for something less than the max contract.
You would obviously need some sort of marketing research firm to get the real facts, but I think it’s entirely possible. Say he puts a clause in his contract that if the Cavs sign an all-star from another team, his salary drops to $8 mil per year. He would be viewed as loyal for staying in Cleveland, unselfish for taking less money than he is worth, and ultimately revered for being committed to winning.
At the end of the day, I think that these are qualities that most people crave in a superstar. Lebron would become almost as loved in the rest of the country/world as he already is in Cleveland, and people would be more willing to buy the products he endorses. Lebron would ultimately make more money as a result of taking less in his NBA contract.
I know its far fetched, but I think it does make some sense.
Any thoughts?
Also, I’d like to add about the Jazz – I think Maynor gave them everything that Williams would have, that kid was on fire. I honestly believe that you could really discount the fact that Williams sat with the way he played.
You can never discount a player of that caliber sitting. Especially when it comes down to the final two minutes.
Williams is a pretty solid closer because of his strength and his ability to overpower other guards coupled with his ability to blow by them.
The Cavs played a crappy second half. Let’s just be happy they got the W and let Z and Jax get familiar with their new squads this Tuesday.
Jack, I guess my point is, what more would Williams have given that Maynor didn’t give? A few more assists?
Art Modell stole our Browns. I would rather have the new Browns suck for a thousand years than forgive the man that stole my team.
i would burn the HOF to the ground if he ever got inducted
Marc Stien reporting Bobcats and Golden State nearing Deal for Captian Jack for Radmonvic and Raja Bell
Modell moved to Baltimore because he didn’t want to lose ownership of the team. A few years later, he lost ownership of the team anyway. So what was the point?
@17 Thank God! Now can we hope for Z+ for T-Mac at the deadline?
@19 I’m holding out for the pipedream of a fire sale for NO and CP3 coming to the Cavs
Lebron is going to be upset…
So, I guess then we won’t be seeing SJax blowing kisses to Cavs fans on Tuesday. I was kind of looking forward to that.
And death to Modell and the Ratbirds.
S-Jax not being traded here is probably for the best. His contract was awful.
I hope Art enjoys all his riches an success here on earth, because he is going to have a rough go at it while being tortured in hell for eternity.
Maybe a win tonight can ruin the Raven’s chances at a playoff bid.
Let the hatred for Modell go? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Idiot Baltimorons haven’t even forgiven Irsay to this day despite having a team back and winning a Super Bowl. And even though what Modell did to Cleveland was pretty s***ty, Irsay’s treatment of Baltiwhore was much worse.
LOL Peyton Manning, the GOAT, could have been one of Baltiwhore’s own. Sorry, Baltimorons.
@25 – what’s even *worse* than that, Amar, is so many Baltimore fans’ hatred of us Browns fans.
They get their team, a superbowl win, and replace Modell with an awesome owner–we get stuck with expansion, PSLs, and one of the three worst ownership regimes in the NFL. And yet I see more hatred from Ravens fans towards Cleveland than we have towards them. They hate Irsay for leaving them, then they hate us after they gave us the same treatment (the reason I usually see cited is because the NFL gave us a “sweetheart deal”, but left them high and dry for so many years, which ignores the stark reality of what happened 1995-1998.)
I’d just as soon they say “thank you” and be on their merry way.
Ravens fans delusions about the realities of how much of a scum bag, Art Modell, is disheartening. Art Modell basically held the Cleveland Indians hostage for years since he was the outright owner of Municipal Stadium and when they broke out of a terrible deal to get their own stadium, Modell went bankrupt and conned his way into Baltimore because he was jealous of the Indians new stadium and success. He deserves nothing but our contempt.
Jamison Hensley… F**k YOU!
