Brady Quinn Fined for Hit on Ravens’ Suggs
Written By: Scott | Category: Cleveland Browns | Comments: 4Following an interception to Baltimore’s Chris Carr, Browns quarterback Brady Quinn dove at would-be blocker Terrell Suggs which resulted in an apparent knee injury. Today, Mary Kay Cabot reports that Quinn was fined a significant amount - the quarterback would not specify what amount he will forfeit.
Quinn’s actions riled up perennial perfect citizen Ray Lewis, who considered the tackle attempt a “cheap shot.” Lewis has yet to discuss the coddling of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who received the benefit of the doubt on several plays. In a recent press conference, Browns head coach Eric Mangini said that Quinn will in fact get the start this Sunday against Detroit. Getcha (we are) terrible towels ready.

Terrible.. But I think everybody knew it was coming.
The NFL is such a baby sport anymore. We got flagged for hitting Flacco on 2 different occasions, once too high and once too low. So if you dont hit him in the numbers you’re going to get a penalty and or a fine.
Why don’t we have “we are terrible towels”? I mean for the fans, of course. I know they’re worn proudly by the players in a few different colors. Mangini uses his as a bib.
I didn’t watch the game, but based on the replay, I have trouble imagining what else Quinn was supposed to do there. Should he have tried to go toe to toe with Suggs? He would have gotten destroyed. Instead he created a pile-up and was somewhat instrumental to finishing the play. About as much as can be expected from someone who probably doesn’t know any blocking or tackling technique. The NFL fining him seems to be telling him not to try to tackle the returner.
Sorry that someone got hurt, but injuries happen even in the normal play of sports.
Dear Ray Lewis,
REALLY??? YOU KILLED A DUDE!
Sincerely,
Cleveland
