While We’re Waiting… LeBron’s Headband, Sunday Takeaways, and Clausen Punched

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.

90040954_DLK019_Cavs_v_76erIn the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game LeBron’s headband was knocked off his head. LeBron freaked out and was visibly upset on the court. The King played for approximately two and a half minutes without his crown.  The average fan reaction went something like this…LeBron’s headband just fell off. He looks weird without a headband. Then as they watched LeBron hit Jamario Moon with a backdoor pass for a dunk they forgot about LeBron’s lack of a headband. I admit I had the same reaction the first time I watched the game.

However, when I watched more closely I saw the truth. LeBron plays better without his headband. LeBron had two points and one assist during the two and a half minutes that his headband was missing. If you multiply those numbers by his average minutes per game he would be averaging 30.3 points and 15 assists per game. Suddenly it all made sense. [NoYork]

DP sits down with the SideLionReport to discuss Browns/Lions/Misery [SideLionReport]

“Why would the Bobcats take a lesser package for [Stephen] Jackson? To me the answer is simple: to stick it to Jackson. Jackson asked out of Golden State at the beginning of the season. There were reports that Jackson was causing problems within the locker room. Warriors head coach Don Nelson and General Manager Larry Riley were both in agreement in finding a trade for Jackson and that getting him out of there in the quickest way possible would be the best. They wanted to get rid of him quickly, because things weren’t going to get better until he was gone. So for all the trouble he caused them, they stuck it to him and traded him to the Charlotte Bobcats.” [Cavalier Attitude]

Here are some positives we can take away from Sunday’s game:

  • The bus made it to the game on time.
  • Everybody wore the right uniforms.
  • We fielded a full team.
  • We scored as many points as the other team.*
  • Nobody died.

See? It’s just the way you look at it. This game wasn’t a collapse. It was a collopportunity!

*Almost! [The Kardiac Kid]

And finally, what is it with Notre Dame quarterbacks getting punched in the face? [Dr. Saturday]

    @ClownBaby, lol

Whenever I try to drop that people either start to explain why it is in fact NOT ok, or they stare at me like I’m an idiot. Either way it kills the mood.

Going along with that No York article, not only is Bron’s hair getting longer, but I think both he and Mo are growing theirs out.

Any thoughts on Mangini’s claims that the Lions faked injuries to slow down our no-huddle offense?

  • 4. November 24, 2009

    @ mendy

I actually thought about that during the game that there looked to be some pretty minor “injuries” with guys just sitting on the field acting more tired than injured, but it’s a pretty petty thing to complain about after a game considering it was the defense that let the Browns down along with conservative play calling in the 2nd quarter.

I thought it was weird how Julian Peterson was on the ground in pain, and then *snap* he popped back up and was all better and walked off the field pain free. I noticed it during the game, but thought i was being too Mangini

Is being too Mangini anything like being Miley?

ESPNs article about Clausen getting punched is hilarious. First of all its front page news, and second I’m sure that cocky punk didn’t say anything to get himself punched. In the article it says an “irate” fan punched him. So said fan sees Jimmy, realizes that the team lost the game the day before and that JC will probably go pro and got so mad that he couldnt help but sock him? Hilarious. It also says that Jimmy was out with his mom and dad so he obviously couldn’t have been doing anything wrong.

Completely baseless ND hate is funnier.

  • 8. November 24, 2009

But still claiming relevance is the funniest of all.

I want to laugh at Clausen and the beating he so rightfully deserved but there is a big part of me that is worried about the probabilities of him ending up in a Browns uniform.

Jimmy wasn’t in Spanish class yesterday, or I woulda got the real story out of him. Rumors are circulating that he actually was just out at the bar and got attacked. I don’t really know what to believe.

    “So rightfully deserved”

Yes. I agree. All 20 year old quarterbacks deserve to be punched in the face.

  • ben
    12. November 24, 2009

By that logic, Jasper Howard deserved to be stabbed to death because I don’t like Connecticut.

    13. November 24, 2009

    Ben-
That’s quite a leap there…also knowing how much he has thought of himself since before even enrolling at ND merits zero sympathy from me here. I’m sure he talked himself into the situation.

  • ben
    14. November 24, 2009

You’re right, TP or Elway or other huge high school QB recruits never have egos. We should just punch or stab them all b/c they “so rightfully deserve it.”

Also, TP loves dog killers, so he should defiantly be stabbed.

If said “fan” was a true ND fan (people I normally detest, btw) he woulda punched Charlie Weiss in the mug.

ben – Really? Relating this story to the UConn player? Nice. I will speak for myself ( I assume most everybody else on here is on the same page) when I say that I’m assuming Clausen deserved it because I’m assuming he was running his mouth. It doesn’t happen often that some guy just walks out of a bar and gets punched. Notice I didn’t say it doesn’t happen, but doesn’t happen often. Why don’t you take off your Irish fat charlie glasses, step back from the situation and then post a comment.

@ #9 – If he was running his mouth and got called on it and then socked in the face… Do you really think he’d admit that to you?

  • Clown Baby
    19. November 24, 2009

    JK-

Since it looks like no charges are being filed, I’m guessing each party involved is sharing a bit of the blame and it’s going over and one with. I’m not sure I get your question, but the results seem to indicate that Clausen wasn’t an angel here and no he probably wouldn’t admit that. Let’s be honest here, at 2:30am Clausen wasn’t out having a Coke and a smile with his family.

In case my first sentence above blew your mind, strike ‘going’ and the last phrase should be ‘over and done with.’ Yikes.

@JK: It’s called hyperbole. People use it when they are making points. Particularly when they are trying to show that other statements are likewise ridiculous.

“@ #9 – If he was running his mouth and got called on it and then socked in the face… Do you really think he’d admit that to you?”

Clownbaby – That question was supposed to go to poster # 10 – Lebron3eb – So, sorry for the aneurysm.

ben – Thanks for the definition of hyperbole but your comment(s) are still ridiculous.

Anyone have a video of the headband COMING off? it still puzzles me what happened.

  • 5KMD
    26. November 24, 2009

Denny, ND still is and always will be relevant, like it or not. They have their own TV station and are on Sports shows all the time for good and bad reasons.

At least they aren’t constantly overranked to start the season anymore, unlike some schools that play football around these parts.

  • JK
    27. November 24, 2009

Yes, 5KMD.. Notre Dame obviously wasn’t “overranked” when they were ranked this year.

  • Clown Baby
    28. November 24, 2009

    5KMD-

The have a contract with NBC to broadcast their games. That does not equal having their own TV station.

  • 5KMD
    29. November 24, 2009

I thought you would know what I meant there, I will spell it out more clearly next time

THEY ARE ON NATIONAL TV EVERY FREAKIN’ WEEK NO MATTER HOW BAD THEY PLAY.

JK: I said to start the season. I have no problem with rankings once, you know, games have been played. I may disagree with them. I can’t stand rankings before the season starts though, based solely on past reputation.

  • Clown Baby
    30. November 24, 2009

Usually when somebody says they own something, it only holds one meaning. When they say they “own” something but really don’t it usually means they are over-inflating their own value. I DECLARE THAT 5KMD IS INDEED A GENUINE NOTRE DAME FAN.

  • 5KMD
    31. November 24, 2009

Or it could mean that I was trying to make a point that there continued relevance despite their poor play is based on their overexposure. They kind of do own NBC on Saturdays, have you seen the pre and post game?

Also, what does me being or not being a fan of ND have to do with anything? I think you are the guy that said a 20 year old kid deserved to get punched in the face. I might just be a “fan” of not punching kids.

  • Clown Baby
    32. November 24, 2009

    33. November 24, 2009

Actually, I’m quite certain the last 7 posts have been a loss for everyone. I honestly mean this. I should know better than to not rip into ND on this site.

    Go buckeyes!!!!

  • JK
    34. November 24, 2009

By “rip” the Buckeyes.. Do you mean saying their overrated in the pre season every year? That’s pure genius.. Where did you come up with that?

  • 35. November 24, 2009

@ #24 – If he floats, he’s made of wood – BURN HIM!

  • 5KMD
    36. November 24, 2009

    JK,

I never ripped the buckeyes. I said teams that play in these parts. no specific team was mentioned. some folks assume too much. Penn State is a better example for this year.

  • Clown Baby
    37. November 24, 2009

    5KMD-

If your qualification for teams “Around these parts” is any team within a 5 hour driving radius you may need to be more specific next time.

  • 5KMD
    38. November 24, 2009

So you thought I was talking abou the MAC and not the Big Ten?

OK guys, I’m done for the day. Hope I didn’t create too many enemies. I think it’s safe to say you guys really like tOSU, I really like ND, and when those two sides start to argue, it will never end up good.

All in good fun to keep the day going on my end. Sure better than OBSERVING some other posts on this site.
