And some quick notes from yesterday’s open practice

Sophomore receiver Dane Sanzenbacher is the star of camp. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel can’t stop talking about him, so it was no surprise when Sanzenbacher was working as the No. 3 receiver with the first-team offense, ahead of Ray Small, during Monday’s public practice. [...]

Malcolm Jenkins usually takes on veterans Brian Robiskie or Brian Hartline in practice, he admitted after Saturday’s scrimmage that Sanzenbacher is his toughest matchup. He compared him to former OSU No.1 draft pick Anthony Gonzalez.

[Freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor] was much more of a slinger from a three-quarters motion before, and is now right over the top. He looked comfortable in the pocket in the scrimmage portions of practice. But you can still see what the possibilities are when he runs. He threw out a juke at the line during a 7-on-7 drill and didn’t look like a quarterback.

Now about that guy who voted us 13th…

I like Ohio State better than any pro team in Cleveland for the simple fact that the kids at Ohio State chose to wear the scarlet and gray over any other school. Chris Wells chose Ohio State because as he said (about USC and Michigan) “I checked those schools out, but I was born to be a Buckeye” — some guys chose Ohio State over other schools even when Ohio State doesn’t offer him a scholarship at first (Ross Homan). That is what is refreshing about Ohio State; once you are a Buckeye, you are a Buckeye for life (in 90% of cases)

Pros on the other hand….jeez, the whole Lebron thing explains that all, but you don’t get a sense of appreciation at all from the pro players. The only loyalty they show is to themselves. They really don’t care about the fans, or the city (look at Carson Palmer). All they care about is where they can make the most money.

Dan – for the most part, I can agree. Its just unfortunate that guys like Joe J, Andra Davis, etc are more the exception tha the norm…
