Cleveland Cavaliers 2010-11 Schedule
August 11, 2010Jackson and Wright Injured, Haden Ready to Step in Against the Packers
August 11, 2010When LeBron James signed up for Twitter roughly six weeks ago, the sports world reacted in a variety of ways. Doubts surrounded whether or not it was even James using the account, others assumed it would be strictly for promotional reasons. And while both may have been true to a point, it turns out that James is also using the microblogging medium to turn into a 6-foot-8-inch Carl Monday.
On Tuesday evening, James took a break from talking to Chris Paul and Chad Ochocinco to fire a warning shot to all of those that have cast him in a negative light since “The Decision.”
Don’t think for one min that I haven’t been taking mental notes of everyone taking shots at me this summer. And I mean everyone!
Naturally, this just added more fuel to the anti-LeBron fire. Considering that the only person not on the list is ESPN’s Stuart Scott, James’ mental notes should be of considerable size. Typically, re-tweeting anything James says is a tired exercise as anyone that cares would be following him to begin with. However, most of the quick-witted added thoughts of their own, perhaps being added to James’ list of perceived shooters.
Many were quick to ask whether James’ “notes” included his reason for quitting on the Cavaliers during the playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Even more were willing to raise their Twitter hands in unison, playing right back into the empty threats that were crammed into a 140-character box. And with any viral tweet that gets disseminated among Twitter’s finest, it spawned a hashtag of #bronsmentalnotes (possibly the best use of the hashtag since #BlameBranyan) that ranged from “practice wincing and make vacation plans for May” to consulting NBA stores of fireproof jerseys, buying a dog and teaching said dog how to “Dougie.”
On the other side, some are calling the James tweet “the most MJ-like thing he has done so far.” Creating enemies, fueling desire to dominate the NBA game and win a championship. While MJ made his enemies in a different fashion, James is utilizing his resources – in fact, it was the first tweet he has made in the six weeks that those following actually acknowledged. But on the flip side, this whole episode just cast that much of a larger spotlight on the biggest name in the NBA to not have a ring – the same man who put half of the NBA through the wringer over his pending free agency and ultimately turned on the fans that supported him through all of these types of moves for the last seven years.
Given the transgressions of this summer, one can only assume that this is not the end of the threatening tweets from the King James account. The “look at me” medium is undoubtedly right up his alley – he likely hates the fact that he was this late to the party. But if anything is true, its that James’ heel turn will only continue to be magnified until the start of the 2010-11 NBA season and James will continue to make up for lost time.
Until then, let’s hope this isn’t the last we hear about these mental notes.

ill say this much, some of lebron’s best moments were when he was doing things to spite people (remember chris bosh’s girlfriend?). and as awesome as it would be for the cavs to beat the heat at home this upcoming season, i expect lebron to drop 50 and give gilbert a glance after every 3.
I hope LeBron dies in a fire.
Through the wringer.
He seems to be settling into his new role as villain nicely. That quote sounds like it’s right out of a marvel comic book.
kinda feel like he needs to be the bad guy. his whole life he’s been friend to all and all hail the king, and he has been (relatively) failing. So maybe a little ‘me against the world’ attitude would develop into the killer instinct he is missing. we shall see. kinda hope he remains ringless for the rest of his days
The same way you “remembered” what it was like to lose the Orlando series?
How’d that work out for us?
Ooooooooooo, Mr. Tough Guy. Talkin’ big.
What a tool.
LeBron is so gay.

Oooh, Affable One, those veiled threats are so scary. Whatcha gonna do to us? Leave town and play for another team? Refuse PD’s next interview request? Now go practice your intimidator look in the mirror – a little more furrow, that’s pretty good.
Michelle Beadle was making fun of him because of this on Mike and Mike this morning. When MB starts making fun over you…well at least she looks better than golic would in a dress.
“King”James’ tweet == lame
#bronsmentalnotes == immensely entertaining
Right, just like he was gonna show Chicago and the rest of the league a “whole different monster” in the playoffs. lol. The kid’s not a winner, no matter how much tough talk and posturing he engages in. I said it all along. God it hurts to be right sometimes.
“One min”? Looks like he quit before he could completely type out the word “minute”.
I guess he feels bolder now that he has his South Beach Boyfriends to back him up.
Everytime his Quitness speaks his true education level sings out loud and clear. James, stick to playing BB, its the only thing you can do right. You certainly lack professionalism dude. Any chance of going back to school in your future? Sure hope so, maybe when you injured and can’t play anylonger or old age. You had better think of that now. At the rate you goin, you are headed for deep dooodooo. When you body starts to break down, your be a well balance man. Just because you can play ball and have money doesn’t make you a man. Wish ya well, you and your family will need it….
Here we go Brownies, Here we go!
WHAT THE HECK IS TWITTER
LeBron won’t be looking at Gilbert much considering he cant hit 3s. Badda bing! Now go hide behind your boyfriend Wade again LeBron.
(sniff) “Oh yeah….well….well….when me and my new bff’s come to your place this December, you’re gonna be sorry.”
So glad this guy is gone. If he needs motivation like this to be great, then he isn’t great. Truly great players don’t need to stick it to their home area/town and feed off of their angst to get motivated to win a championship.
The things LBJ says and tweets are all inspired by hip hop and movies. I’m sure he is taking mental notes but it all comes down to the season and regardless what he accomplishes he won’t get full credit for anything he does.
Just read some of #bronsmentalnotes. There are pages of them and they’re hilarious.
If he was half the competitor he’s trying to project, he’d still be here, taking mental notes of the people who said he couldn’t win a title in Cleveland.
What a frontrunner.
“Hit up Wal-Mart, need eggs, milk, and bread”#bronsmentalnotes
I hate to say it, but he might back this up averaging a near triple-double with a championship. This guy is so good at basketball, and he’s only 25. Let’s just hope we win the lottery and get a future superstar, because the Heat are going to be tough.
to pick up where #22 left off:
“Hit up Wal-Mart, need eggs, milk, bread, and then drop off my man-card at D-Wade’s house” #bronsmentalnotes
Charles Barkley chimed in and wanted to make sure he was on LeBron’s list. Chunk is the man!
[…] probably heard by now, but in response to LeBron’s tweet earlier this week Charles Barkley had this to say on ESPN Radio 103.3 with Galloway and Company […]
