Indians 5, Rays 4: The One With the Walk-Off Walk
May 11, 2011Why I Can’t Root for the Celtics
May 11, 2011Back in May, 2008, we featured a little series called “Re-Sign or Release” where we went through every player on the Cavaliers roster and turned to the readers to see what they would do if they were the general manager of the Wine and Gold and – hypothetically, of course – all of the players were up to have their respective contracts renewed.
Same hypothetical this time around: We’re looking to build for the future; all players are restricted free agents, likely requiring a bit of a pay raise from last season. Do you re-sign them? Andrew has already laid out the roadblocks currently facing the Cavaliers in 2011; now it’s your turn. Vote below and leave your support in the comments.
Another day, another guard – this time, everyone’s favorite mid-season trade rumor in Anthony Parker. Best part of this one may be that Parker is a legit free agent that seems to have quite a mixed crowd when it comes to bringing him back.

2010-11 Recap: Care to guess who had the second-most games started for the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers? Naturally, since this very post is about one Anthony Michael Parker, you can guess that it is him (65) as he falls in just one game behind power forward JJ Hickson.
Though he was not the most talented or athletic member of the New Expression Wine and Gold, Parker provided Byron Scott’s otherwise young team with a strong veteran presence in and out of the locker room. When asked if he regrets not being traded to a team like the Chicago Bulls – one that’s still in the playoffs, but the way – he firmly stated that not only did he not want to leave Cleveland, but hopes to be back next season.
Parker provided his fair share of rough shooting nights, but when things could have gone completely toxic after the countless losses, it was his experience that kept a very inexperienced team together. He has stated on more than one occasion that he hopes to return to see what the second season can provide for his would-be new teammates.
The veteran shooting guard will be 36-years of age when next season tips off. That said, should he be calling Cleveland home?
Re-Sign and Release: Ramon Sessions (87 percent say re-sign)
Re-Sign or Release: Manny Harris (68 percent say re-sign)

Hahahaha
umm, even if we wanted to sign him, why would he want to sign with us?
he’s going to be the 8th guy in the rotation for a 2nd tier contender next season.
mgbode, you say he’ll be the 8th guy, but yet he started a lot of games last year. Who is to say that wouldn’t continue?
I’d say resign if he were actually to play as the 8th man, b/c he’s a good bench guy, but hte Cavs used him as a big time player which he is not.
That said, he was a hell of a guy for being professional all year, and we should all commend him for that.
I predict the comments will be at least 4 to 1 against. He has taken a lot of grief from Cavs fans the last few seasons.
No more Weak Sauce!
@Lyon – I said he’d be the 8th guy on a 2nd tier contender. That’s a #3-6 seed. The Cavs will not be at that level next year.
Parker is 36yo and likely wants a couple more playoff runs rather than to be apart of a rebuild he will not see the fruit from. And, there is absolutely no chance he would accept being the 8th guy on the Cavs.
That said, I agree, the guy is a pro’s pro. Thanks for the time.
Good guy and nice eighth man, but he would serve no purpose on this rebuilding team even as a starter.
Gotcha, I read your post then apparently ignored half of it, lol.
Obviously the guys going to continue being classy and say he wants to stay here, but you’re right there is no way he’d accept a lesser role on this team when he could play for a team that actually has a chance. I think he’d be better for Chi than Bogans is.
only possible contribution: supposed “veteran presence.” But young players don’t emulate washed up teammates. Locker rooms are more like a lion pride – once alpha can’t fight, he gets attacked and banished. [see: bron-bron quitting while Shaq looked on]
Parker’s a nice guy. He should retire while he can still get up from a chair without wincing.
Is this a joke?
He wants a shot at a ring and we need to start holding open SG tryouts for anyone under 26. Not much to see here.
