Report: Brady Quinn, Broken Finger

Written By:  Scott   |  Category:  Cleveland Browns   |  Comments:   12

As if yesterday’s injury report was not enough…

Report out of Berea is that quarterback Brady Quinn has recently seen a hand specialist, and that he has a fractured index finger on his throwing hand.

When not practicing, Quinn will wear a splint on his finger.  Romeo Crennel has said that Quinn will in fact play this week.  The specialist claims that Quinn cannot damage the finger any further.

One has to wonder how much this “fracture” will hinder Quinn’s ability to throw the ball accurately.  Could we see Derek Anderson this week in his place?  Panic if you want, but the team is doing its best to quench such a reaction.

More on this as it develops.

If Anderson plays, my motivation to watch the game drops…

I know exactly which play it happened on. It was the play where Wright totally whiffed on the blitzing linebacker and Brady’s pass was nearly picked off (reversed on replay).

I was thinking the same thing boom… Kawika Mitchell, either his body or helmet would be my guess.

Sounds like this isn’t that big of a deal, though I can’t say it’s good news.

    From Tony Grossi:

Brady Quinn has a small fracture in his right index finger, but is expected to make his third straight start on Sunday.

Coach Romeo Crennel said the fracture was discovered on an X-ray, which was taken after Quinn complained of soreness in the finger after Wednesday’s practice.

Quinn was examined by a hand specialist, who cleared him to play, the coach said.

“This is a small fracture,” Crennel said.

Quinn will wear a splint on the finger when he’s not practicing or playing.

I have always thought that anderson’s worst trait was his uncanny ability to never get hurt. if this had happened to him sooner, we would have had our excuse to start brady before the season was in the dumper.

Hey, we seemed to miss something, and I don’t know how. I saw this on Deadspin last night, and now an update.

    First story

    Update

Are the wheels really falling off this thing or what? With the passion this city has for it’s football team, I’m not exactly surprised that he received this email, but a little surprised he responded this way.

Also, do you guys have a tip box or something so threadjacks aren’t needed?

So Tony Romo misses weeks with a broken pinky but Brady Quinn will miss no time with a broken index finger? I’m not buying he’ll play much if at all.

Candy – you forget that Romo can “rehab” with J. Simpson. That’d keep me on the sidelines too.

Maybe this was why he didn’t seem as sharp to me this week. I am worried about this though, no matter how small of a break it is. He needs the reps, and we need to see what he can do.

On the positive side, if we do get stuck with DA; we all know he folds whenever the pressure is on. All season he had to deal with a popular backup on the sidelines that everyone wanted over him. If Quinn is out, maybe DA relaxes a bit, and plays a lot better. Yes I am hoping and maybe grabbing at straws, but I have to try and feel a little better about this season.
