Open Thread: Buckeyes vs. Michigan Wolverines

Weather: 29 degrees, partly cloudy, zero precipitation, winds at 6 MPH

All season long, we have been doing these open threads for the Buckeyes.  The one I have been looking forward to the most is obviously this one, though I was hoping for some bigger stakes.  I’m not a fan of these sort of games where we play a team that has absolutely nothing to lose.  You have to assume that once a team loses to Toledo, that they just start looking ahead to the one game that matters most: this one.

Crazy stuff is going on in Michigan, where Sam McGuffie went from leaving town to practicing and playing in a matter of days.  Even if the kid is a ton of fun to watch, I’ll stick with high school YouTube over open field OSU any day of the week.  Here’s to hoping that Dick Rod picks up right where his predecessor left off.  With the “L.”

If you missed any of this week’s Buckeye love feel free to click here.  And with that said…Go Bucks! (And  Spartans if you’re feeling greedy!)

So I have to work during the game. My company has contracts with Dish Network, but won’t allow us to have local channels. So I will not be watching the game. I will be sad instead.

I too i’m working this game. I’ve got my dad sending me text messages ever 2 minutes. But as you can see i have web acces, just dog slow internet where some play by play trackers aren’t even available. I’ve got it Tivo’d though so i’ll be able to see the game after its completed and i know the result (as much sense as that makes)

When healthy, Beanie is the best back in the country. Period.

A few questionable spots on that Bitchigan drive in the first half.

Why aren’t we blitzing on every down. Sheridan can’t function with pressure. The prevent d gives him too much time.

Anyone got any messages for all the Michigan fans I’m sitting with right now? (I live here unfortunately)

Tell them to enjoy Dick Rod. He’s a great coach, and OSU fans want him to be around for long time. Oh, and Muck Fichigan. The whole state.

Oh maybe better luck 3 years from now?

How come there are no sideline shots of Dick Rod at all this entire second half?

Beat. Down. Thing of beauty. I still question Jim Tressel in the bigtime national games, but he absolutely owns the team up north, and that’s much appreciated. Great to see Boeckman get in as well. Sadly, Michigan State is crapping the bed, but a Capital One Bowl appearance means I get to make the 1 1/2 hour drive to root the team on in Orlando. O-H….

Two very minor complaints about this game. First, I wanted to top the 50 Woody put on Michigan in 1968. There won’t be many opportunities for the Buckeyes to do this to the Maize and Blue again, so why not just go nuts on these guys and stuff it down their throats just to get some semblance of revenge for all those ruined seasons they created in the 90’s for the Bucks. I know Tressel’s a classy guy, but for once, couldn’t he have been like Urban Meyer?

Second, just not impressed by Pryor, except for the deep ball TD. Otherwise, he looked pretty bad. I hope he can grow a lot here between now and the bowl game, because he’s just not ready yet. I was very glad Boeckman got in though, wished he could have gotten in during the Penn State game so we’d have been playing for the Rose Bowl today and not the Capital One Bowl.
