Braylon Edwards’ Quote of the Day
There comes a time in the life of a sports fan when reality must officially set in. No, I am not talking about the Browns team being bad. I mean, they ARE bad. We know that to be reality. The reality that I am referencing now is that Braylon Edwards might never be able to play for this team ever again after this year. After exploding into the blogosphere with vitriolic comments following Monday night’s latest orange and brown debacle, Braylon decided this hit single needed a b-side. (Let’s hope it doesn’t turn into a maxi-single.)
“I’m not Paul Warfield, Webster Slaughter or Jim Brown. I’ve given my all to this city for four years, and I realize it will never be enough. I went to the Pro Bowl last year and resurrected this team from the darkness, and nobody cared.”
“People in this town believe they are entitled to too much. They have been disrespectful to me and my family. I’ve gone out in public with my family and have had to deal with being called foul names. My parents have been called vulgar things at restaurants.”
“My biggest problem is that I actually give a damn. I’m always rushing back from surgeries and injuries, never missing games or practices. But through this, I’ve learned how to overcome adversity. I’m also proud of how my foundation has taken off. I’ve been doing all this community service in Cleveland … my charity efforts will only be in Detroit from now on.”
To quote Scooby Doo; “Ruh Roh!”
Now, I am going to try not to go off on a rampage against Braylon Edwards even though I think he is wrong to make these comments. I am not even saying that what he says is untrue in terms of fans making comments to him and his family in public. I am going to take the unemotional middle of the road stance and just try to report that this Sunday is going to be U – G – L – Y gruesome at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Braylon took this gasoline-soaked bonfire of a season and without a care, lit the match and tossed it right in the middle. Again, I am not saying he is right or wrong, but there is no reason that he needed to open his mouth and follow up what he said after Monday night.
On top of that, how is it that this Browns’ organization is so out of control that they let press have access to Braylon Edwards again to continue to pour salt in the wounds of Browns fans everywhere? See, that’s the part that Braylon misses with his statements about coming back from injuries quickly and trying his hardest. The fans who are out there booing his poor play this year are spending life-changing amounts of money year-in and year-out to be miserable. Even in their best season as fans since 1999, they didn’t get to watch a playoff game at home. This whole deal is a two-way street and as Rock, Scott and some of my other WFNY colleagues have pointed out Braylon doesn’t take any personal responsibility for his play and how it has contributed to this submarined year.
One thing is for sure, though. A continued relationship between Braylon Edwards and the city of Cleveland is going to be near impossible going forward. I can’t imagine the apology that would be good enough for Browns fans to forgive, forget and move on. And maybe that is Braylon’s goal in all of this. Maybe he is trying to get out of here by making it impossible for Cleveland to keep him like Willis McGahee did with Buffalo. The big difference of course is that even while forcing a trade out of Buffalo McGahee performed on the field.
I have never, in my life, seen a team that had so many situations where I was left wondering, “In a perfect world, how would all this work?” and yet having no idea how to fix it. There is no handbook for this team right now. They defy all logic and reason.
(Oh, I almost forgot. Please keep it clean in the comments, people. This is a family-friendly site!)

December 17th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
WOW!
That’s all I can think of right now.
December 17th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
“I’m not Paul Warfield, Webster Slaughter or Jim Brown.”
Oh, we know, Braylon. Trust me. We know.
December 17th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
**** you, Braylon. Go eat a bag of *****.
that’s clean, right?
If not, try this:
Thank you, Braylon. Go eat a bag of chips.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Very nice of you to take the middle ground Craig. I will not.
Two things fired me up about this. First, you couldn’t be more transparent about your motives for your ‘charity work’. Even that is all about you isn’t Braylon? It’s funny, a lot of athletes keep their mouths closed about what they do for charity. Not you. You like to announce it don’t you?
Second, the idea that you, SINGLE-HANDEDLY “resurrected this team from darkness”. Seriously? There weren’t some other guys wearing Cleveland helmets in that Pro Bowl? And you might want to check the meaning of resurrected. See, that would imply that the team IS STILL ALIVE! Unlike what has taken place this year. This team is in more disarray than any I’ve seen in Cleveland.
Oh no, whatever would we do without Braylon Edwards….please, I hope we find out!
December 17th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Depends on the kind of chips. Sun Chips are clean. Fritos, not so clean.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
“I [...] resurrected this team from the darkness.”
Messiah complex much?
Not to mention the fact that it’s all personal achievements and personal pronouns throughout those quotes (even the first half of the one I elided). I’d suggest he get over himself but I don’t think he’s a mountain climber.
I’m a Braylon fan from way (way) back, but I’m done now.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Eh, he said pretty much exactly what I’d expect him to say. Lets face it, not all Browns fans are as classy as the folks blogging on this website, we’ve all heard and seen some other people that have made us ashamed to be fans of a team. I was at the Colts game when Anderson went down and heard people cheering, I yelled at a few individuals. That being said, Braylon needs to understand that Browns fans ARE entitled to some things. When I pay $75 a ticket I feel entitled to see him CATCH a pass. I feel entitled to see an NFL offense score a damn touchdown. Its a shame he’s committing public suicide like this, because in all honesty we won’t trade him. If Randy Moss only fetched a 4th rounder, what in the world would scissorhands bring us? In other words… How bout them Cavs??
December 17th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Yes Braylon, you single handily resurrected the franchise for one year.
I can see him writing “Just give me the damn ball: Part Deux”
December 17th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Crap…..I need to buy a new jersey next season, don’t I?
December 17th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
plan and simple… braylon needs to shut up and catch the football. i don’t care to hear an apology or anything else from him. he just needs to do his job and do it well if he wants respect.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Rock, I have a Winslow jersey I can sell you…
December 17th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
So if he can’t make headlines by making big plays, he’ll make headlines by making big slandering statements… nice. We don’t like primadona’s in Cleveland… Go back to Michigan.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
What nimrod apparently doesn’t realize is that if he actually did his job, this situation wouldn’t exist. Idiot.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Well, at least now we can directly compare the Cleveland Browns to Lazarus.
FINALLY
December 17th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
All part of his master plan to get out of Cleveland. He has never wanted to be here. The unfortunate thing is that he’s going to get his way.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
He also forgot to mention how he missed a team meeting to attend the Michigan/OSU game.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Braylon would also like to pass a list on of people who he also is not:
Scoonie Penn, Lou Groza, World B. Free, Sargent Slaughter, the Man on the Grassy Knoll, Jungle Jack Hannah, and Teddy Ruxpin
… Seriously no more talk about Braylon Edwards he almost makes me sick to my stomach to hear about this Prima Donna any more …
December 17th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Braylon might want to reconsider his worth in the NFL before running his mouth. I’m not sure how many teams want a “#1 receiver” nearing 20 drops on the season with only 3 TD catches – especially not at his bloated salary.
As for “single-handedly resurrecting” the Browns, he couldn’t have had his “pro-bowl” caliber year if DA wasn’t spot on with his passing, the O-line didn’t hold up long enough for good throws, and other receivers weren’t causing distractions in the secondary. He isn’t worth the paycheck he received this year (that’s the only thing he received every week – ZING!), and God do I hope they trade him to Detroit so he can be as effective as Calvin Johnson.
He is right about one thing. He’s not Webster Slaughter, Jim Brown or Paul Warfield. Those guys all had talent and class.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Thanks to my mother-in-law’s sewing skills, I’ve already turned my #17 jersey into a Sipe throw back.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Typical Prima Donna WR, I’m so sick and tired of WR’s though out the league feeling entitled to our support (especially financially), even though they are nothing but a distraction to their team. Plax, T.O., and now Braylon. Why don’t you see O-Line men, doing the same thing to their teams?
December 17th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
See the Peacock.
See the Peacock flap his lips.
Faster, Peacock!Faster!
Fly, Peacock, fly!
(Far away from here.)
December 17th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Does he fail to realize that he would get treated the same way in public in any other football market? Fans getting upset at players who don’t perform is not a unique thing to the city of Cleveland. If he goes somewhere else, and continues to drop crucial passes, he still will get called out by the fans.
December 17th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
The Brownies are turning into the Bengals: a bunch of self-centered loud-mouths who don’t produce on the field. How many coaches have they gone through? How many QBs? Pathetic! You have to be a masochist to be a Browns fan and it’s frankly getting very old. Edwards and Winslow can both leave town and take their millions; we should be so lucky!
Where’s Bill Cowher when ya need him? Maybe RAC can get a job at Notre Dame?! with his old pal Charlie….
December 17th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
He doesn’t have that kind of foresight Wes. That being said, I’d love to see this guy in an Eagles uniform. They make Cleveland fans look like Boy Scouts in comparison.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
… and also, haven’t we had enough of all Browns players spouting off, whether it’s the Peacock, or Winslow, or even Jamal/”O Great Role Model”? It should be clear to Lerner that the next coach must instill a little of the respect that comes from fear in these guys. Parcells is right when he says football players want to be led. For this particular situation, the next coach better not be a “player’s coach,” or someone “who treats us like men.” The culture of this team is due for a change, and a butt kicking is in order.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I like how he is the reason we don’t like him. Does he really think that if he were playing in Detroit and dropping wide open TD passes the fans would not give him a hard time?
Braylon, if you want people to like you
a)shut up, stop talking to the media
b)do your job and catch balls
c) when you don’t do step ‘B’ always follow step A
December 17th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Oh, and when I see you on West 6th and I say “Hey man, Michigan sucks, good luck this weekend” I’m just bustin your balls, don’t go crying the the newspapers that fans are giving you a hard time.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Best way to deal with him. Announce you will franchise him and never let him out of this city.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
As much as I hate to say it, you don’t see NE Patriots players names hitting the media all the time…
Isn’t that what we were supposed to be getting with Romeo?
December 17th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Braylon has always been the guy that wants the whole spotlight when he is playing well and wants everyone to leave him alone when he sucks. He doesn’t understand that when you play in the NFL you can’t have both. The only city where he won’t get booed is Detroit where their only expectations are to lose every Sunday
December 17th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
@ Bridgecrosser:
Best way to deal with him. Bullets.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
New York, Philly, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Cleveland. All these cities have rich football history, and ALL their fans would boo Braylon for DROPPING 20 CATCHES. Funny how that works.
Kellen at least complained about something that was career threatening with his 2nd or 3rd staph infection. And he never threw the fans under the bus. We love Cribbs, Thomas, Fraley, Rogers, Steinbach, D’Qwell, and most nights our secondary. Why? Because they do their job for the most part!!!! Wish I could be paid millions to drop 20 balls a season, I wouldn’t have to worry about how I’m gonna pay my loans when I’m outta school.
Maybe we can get a 1st rounder for him? Seattle needs a WR and they can’t get a better one with their pick I bet. I’d be happy with a 2nd and 4th though.(since Phil can’t draft in the 3rd round).
Only thing is, who do we get to fill in? As of right now we have Stallworthless, I stepped on my toe, and Steve Sanders.
If we trade Winslow and Edwards we could have potentially 3 first rounders!!!
December 17th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
I hope this turns into a Andre Rison situation where everytime they throw to him the fans boo him- I always thought that was funny
December 17th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
@ S-Dub:
who is going to give up ANYTHING for him now? i’m not sure if he’s worth a 2nd round pick, most of those guys can catch a football.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
S-Dub–if I recall correctly, Randy Moss was only worth a 4th round pick from a championship-caliber team.
If the arguably best WR in the NFL warrants a low-4th rounder, I don’t suspect Braylon is worth anything approaching a 1st rounder.
As for Braylon’s comments… what an absolute jackass…
December 17th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
This at least gives me a reason to not hate going to the game Sunday. I paid for these seats so I’m going to go, but now I get to boo him every time, and most likely this will cause him to drop more passes since he is mentally fragile.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
What an a*s clown – I’ve generally been a fan of Braylon and excused some of his previous comments as a result of the fairly typical lack of maturity you see out of many athletes these days.
But now it’s just completely transparent that he’s trying to get himself run out of town. And regrettably, as we saw with Randy Moss and the Raiders, this is a now win situation for the Browns – Option 1: Trade his malcontent a*s out of town for less than he should be worth; or Option 2: Keep him and watch him become a lockeroom cancer.
I think the Browns have no choice but to keep him – they simply don’t have the depth at WR right now to deal him away, even if they could get a high draft pick for him (which I don’t think they could given his performance this year). Hopefully a more discipline-oriented coach will set him straight – I agree with those who say that it’s absolutely ridiculous that all of these guys are openly bitching in the media. For all of the talk about the players “loving” Romeo and “respecting” him, playing all of this drama out in the media is the ultimate sign of disrespect.
And Braylon should remember something as he continues down this “Moss-ian” path: Randy Moss, before becoming a complete malcontent and team cancer in Oakland established himself as an elite WR in Minnesota. Braylon’s had one good season. STFU buddy.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
If you asked OSU fans who their #2 rival in the Big Ten is, I would bet 95% of them would say Wisconsin. Well, guess what, we love Joe Thomas. Why do we love Joe Thomas? He has class and he performs well on the field. He’s now 2-for-2 in Pro Bowls in his career. That’s why we love him.
If he keeps having games like he did against Philly, though, it will be just a matter of time before fans start heckling him, and then they’ll start talking trash about Wisconsin. That’s the nature of a passionate fanbase. I cannot condone the behavior of some fans, and even some of the comments in this post have made me feel a little uneasy. But at the same time, I wouldn’t trade the passion and pride of the Browns fan base for anything. Either you are with us, or you are against us. And that’s just the way it is. Sorry, Braylon, if we’re not in the mood for coddling you and stroking your enormous ego while you do your fair share in ripping this franchise apart with your poor performance on the field.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Do they not teach self control at the University of Michigan? Oh wait, sorry, forgot we weren’t holding that against him (anymore at least)…To think I was just about to reconsider my stance on the rumor of the Marion trade. Leave it to Braylon to remind me of what a cancer can do to a team. Braylon is a cancer and cancers need to be removed. I know none of us are crazy about builing our WR core around D-Stalled engine and S. Stepped on my big Toe. I admit i have no idea what the free agent market this off season is (especially when it comes to wide outs), but something HAS to be done. I was hoping a coaching change would fix this but i honestly think if we did have a hard-arse coach, said coach would just cut him if he continued to act out.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
This will fix those people who need charity (and must be calling him names) by taking his charitable operations to Detroit. I am a little surprised that the people who are in need of charity are able to go to the same restaurants as Edwards.
Well, at least, he is not “dropping” the charity ops all together.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Also, this is just the latest example of an organization completely out of control. Those that still defend Savage and want him to remain as GM in spite of the Browns being no playoff appearances and 6th-worst-in-the-NFL-record over his four year tenure should keep in mind that the organizational tone is set at the top. This whole thing is rotten from the top down and the inside out, and they’ve enabled Braylon to become the cancer that he is now.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
@Rock: Penn State. Easily. The only reason I dislike Badgerbadgerbadger is the fact that the chokeability of their QBs has gone down lately.
December 17th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Love ya Braylon. The Browns don’t deserve a man of you talent.
December 17th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
I just don’t get how he can avoid mentioning the 12,300 passes he must’ve dropped in all those practices to have dropped 2,300 on the field… Good riddance, amigo.
December 17th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Boy you guys sure are quick with the new taglines…
December 17th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
“People in this town believe they are entitled to too much.”
I think we’re entitled to a team that doesn’t embarrass us with terrible play and idiotic loudmouths.
December 17th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
I normally dont read all the posts but here I took a good look and skimmed most of the posts. With these I have come up with the following thoughts:
1. We can trade Braylon and we can get a solid pick or two for him. Lets get him arrested……lets say……..driving the wrong way on a one way lane at the airport. Then off he goes to Oakland where Al Davis will pay plenty for his services. Then the “black hole” can concentrate on Braylons 30 drops and spend less time booing the horrible play of there entire team. Then he can look back and see how good he had it.
2. With each outburst from a Brownie that I hear I just seem to put more blame on Romeo. He has just lost total control……I’m not sure that he ever really had it. I think now that I hated the Steelers so much because of how jealous I was that we didnt have a coach like Cowher. Im not saying that he could turn this thing around, but I always respected his abilities.
3. Its been almost 10 yrs now. Each game that I have gone to this year, each week seems less lifeless than the last. I fear “blackouts” are headed for NE Ohio’s future on Sundays.
4. Stupid “5 hour energy” shots.
5. I felt bad for Detroit all year until recently when I realized that I would feel better knowing that we werent under achieving because our whole team sucked. But the fact that we have good players underachieving mixed with bad coaching just hurts more.
December 17th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Hard to believe, but kind of feel bad for the guy at this point. He’s obviously not in a good place right now.
December 17th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
I wasnt gonna get on BE too much for the season before these comments. I kno he’s dropped at least 3 touchdowns and another 18 or so “unoffically” (i love that) but to seriously come out and fist even put his name in the same breath at Warfield, Webster, or Jim Brown is sac religious, and the whole Michigan b.s. is just that… bs. If he went to Glenville, O state and lived on Ontario his whole life we, as fans, would still be just a little miffed, to put it mildly, at his performance this year. seems like he only shows up on monday nights when the whole country err… ohio and the other teams state is watching.
Im not saying fans are totally in the right for the way they heckled him and his family as well as DA but thats another subject as we know, however to come across as this helpless, selfless, give my all reciever is straight up from the twilight zone just like the rest of this season has been. he flat out stuck up the joint this year. a prima donna, spoiled, MULTI MILLIONAIRE has no right to speak on what our fans are entitled to. we’re entitled to a championship and a #3 pick who flat out makes plays shuts his mouth and preforms. but we arent seeing that now are we. i think he needs to grow up a little bit and realize thats the nature of the NFL is if you suck, esp when you “ressurected the team single handedly” the year before, passionate fans who spend thier hard earned money to come and watch thier beloved team who hasnt won in 40+ years are gonna be pissed. Im sure if he was doing this in Phili or NY he would be crying harder than our good buddy Timmy Couch by now. I just wished the Browns wouldnt have teased us with a ten win season last year only to revert in to the days of Spergeon Wynn at the helm. We need a miracle in this city… and i think they’re name is the CAVS!!!
December 17th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
We’ve been back in the league for 10 years now and we’ve still only made the playoffs once.
December 17th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Braylon Edwards. Sucks so bad , Matt Millen wouldn’t even draft her.
December 17th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I find it equally hilarious (beyond this ridiculous commentary) that all Braylon could talk about this off-season was how he wanted to start acting and be in Entourage.
Quick stat folks…NFL says Braylon has dropped 20 plus passes now at an average of 19 yards per pass (we all know the real number is over 30). If you go back in time and give the Brownies those drops back then Derek/Brady would have 400+ more yards this season, 4 more touchdowns and 15 more first downs.
Nice job candyass.
December 17th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I find it absolutely hysterical to read 17’s comments. First, can anyone tell me that last time you saw any parents of someone you despise and started cursing them? If Craig won’t say it, I will. Edwards is lying through his lying liar teeth. Short of them wandering the city wearing their finest “LeBron’s Mom’esque” gear, who the hell knows who they are, or would even care?
Second, his histrionics over the lack of respect from the Browns fans (paint with a broad brush, Braylon. Nice work.) is laughable at the very best. When I was up in Cleveland for a game this year, I was stunned how many 17 non-Sipe jerseys I saw. If it wasn’t 10-1 in Edwards favor over any other jersey name I’d be surprised. After dropping numerous balls again, I felt the only rational thing for those fans to do was drop them in one large pile out front of the stadium and burn them en masse to to send a message to this piece of excrement.
Man, and I didn’t even get to the point where I trash him for being from UM, even though I’m a Buckeye grad. Why? Because I don’t care, Braylon. If that were the case, I’d hate the unhateable Joe Thomas for being from UW. I fall in the camp who hates them more than UM.
December 17th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
ENTITLED?
How about we are entitled to some respect because we pay your salary chump. You know, that salary that you apparently so graciously decide to use for charity, which is apparently just an ego boost for you.
Cleveland fans feel we have earned better because we have one of the worst football teams in the league for a vast majority of years since the Browns have returned and yet fans still show up. We aren’t your precious Michigan fans who, and rightly so, have given up on their worthless football team.
Braylon Edwards now represents to me the very definition of wasted natural talent.
I believe a previous commenter got it perfectly when they said that football players need to be led. I’m pretty sure there aren’t too many good highschool/college football teams where the coach is seen as anything but a stern authority figure. Why would abandoning this model suddenly become effective in the pro game, when players become even harder to control? I could go on and on, but I’m not going to waste an ounce on energy discussing anything Browns related unless its how different the team is going to look next year.
December 17th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
#26 has it perfectly…..& #53….Great Thoughts as well!! Could’t say it better myself!!!!
December 17th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
I don’t know what you guys are talking about. The people I work with act like BE all the time…of course, they are in the 5th grade…
December 17th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Boy if Braylon ever reads all these comments he’s sure not going to feel loved anymore…
December 18th, 2008 at 3:48 am
1. Why has the wide receiver become the default diva position in the nfl? Is anyone else sick of the drama that surrounds so many of the best WR’s? TO, Ocho Cinco, Braylon, Plaxico (inmate #34675), etc.
2. I would rather not have him at all on our team, he clearly doesn’t buy into the team mentality. Get draft picks or whatever for him, no one will respect him after these comments on top of his atrocious on-field performance.
3. Romeo has lost control completely. My understanding is that Romeo is a nice coach, whom the players like because he isn’t too strict or unreasonable. He doesn’t exactly strike fear into a player’s heart for messing up. This can be a good way of coaching, if the team is already proven itself. However, his lack of discipline has allowed for braylon to run his mouth, and let off-the-field problems affect the team’s play. F*CK M*CH*GAN, screw braylon, and lets go browns ‘09
December 18th, 2008 at 5:07 am
Mentally Fragile.
I gotta say though – many Browns fans need to show some class. Demanding a professional organization is one thing – cheering when a good guy (DA) gets injured is about as classless as you can be. I used to think it was bad when a fan base cheered when the OPPOSING team’s player got injured.
Anyway, I’m just glad I’ve always been a die-hard Cavs fan first. Now THERE is an organization – from the top down.
As for Braylon – I remember just 2 months ago him beaming ear to ear on MNF postgame – he actually did a really good job in front of the cameras. He’s going to need those skills because his playing days will be over soon – he’s a HORRIBLE WR and a distraction in the locker room. He’s dropped too many passes for me to believe that it is all mental – don’t get me wrong, he’s got the maturation of a middle-schooler, but I think his talent is greatly exxagerated. He’s a big, warm body – that’s it.
December 18th, 2008 at 8:21 am
I’m having serious doubts about wearing my Braylon jersey Sunday to the Cincy game. I’ve rooted for you, stuck up for you, and kept cheering for you Braylon. And then you smack me in the face. Maybe I will wear your jersey Sunday. With tape over your name on the back. And on that tape, I’ll write ‘Crybaby’, or ‘Trade Me’, or maybe ‘Butterfingers’. A*****E!!!
December 18th, 2008 at 9:36 am
@ Tsunami – I think most Browns fans are classy, pretty pissed, but classy. Braylon needs to realize that wherever he goes there’s always going to be a small minority of morons who are going to possibly cross the line with the taunting, ESPECIALLY if he’s playing like garbage.
He’s psychologically fragile allright, but these comments are clearly calculated to piss us all off.
December 18th, 2008 at 10:30 am
No one wanted Randy because he was getting old, Braylon is still very young for WR’s and if you think that teams wont give us at least a 2nd round pick for him then your crazy. He has the talent to be a great WR but it just wont be here.
December 18th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Braylon is off-base on so many issues, I don’t even know where to begin.
If he really felt like he was getting ridiculed no matter what, he would’ve said this stuff after his Pro Bowl season. But he didn’t….because everyone had his back until he forgot how to catch a football. It was easy to go out and hit the clubs on West 6th when you were catching 16 TDs in 16 games, wasn’t it Braylon? Now that you crap the bed every Sunday, it’s gettin a little tough to go out in public, huh? It’s clear this clown can’t handle the pressure; that’s why he didn’t even address the media after dropping the potential GW TD pass.
I told myself I was not going to watch the Browns’ next two games. But I’m going to watch on Sunday just so I can see my Cleveland brethren boo this jackass into the ground.

I heard a rumor that Braylon’s been invited to NYC for New Year’s. They figured no one can drop a ball like he can.

Remember these words come from the same guy who demeaned a group of smartly disinterested Cleveland public school kids by telling them that if they worked hard like “Beyonce or Lebron” that they could be successful.(Of course, the only chance they would have in life to accomplish anything is to sing, dance, or develop a jump shot.) While at the same time telling them that he grew up in “the hood” just like them, neglecting the fact he grew up in one of nicest Michigan suburbs. After watching the Fox Under the Helmet of his charity: it is very clear he gives to charity for the tax benefits, it employees his mother (it would be interesting to see exactly how those administrative costs are spent in his charity), & he hopes to use it as currency to get involved in broadcasting.(i.e. Trent Dilfer strategy)
It has been obvious for awhile he wants to go to New York and is trying to talk his way there next year. The sad thing is he had the ability to change this season more than any one player on the team. The only thing lacking is his focus which has only been there on Monday night games & leadership. He has never taken responsibility for his own actions. In typical coward fashion, he will have all pro caliber seasons in NY so he can become an annoying announcer in the Emmitt Smith/ Trent Dilfer mold.
