Injury News: Sasha Pavlovic Out 4-6 Weeks

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Sasha Pavlovic may officially have the most fragile ankles in the NBA.

January 23, 2008 - Pavlovic injures left ankle against Washington Wizards.  He would not play again until March, 12th.

April 15, 2008 - Pavlovic injures left ankle against Philadelphia 76ers.  He missed a few weeks, leading into the playoffs and then proceeded to register a simply awful series against the Celtics.

October 8, 2008 - Pavlovic injures right ankle during preseason practice.  Misses approximately two weeks of preseason play.

And now… February 9, 2009 – The Cavaliers will be without Sasha Pavlovic for 4-6 weeks after the guard suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

If there’s any silver lining to the recent terrible news regarding the Cavaliers and injuries, it is this:

Guards Delonte West and Tarence Kinsey both took part in practice today for the first time since being injured, but neither will play before the All-Star break this weekend.

West had the cast removed from his injured right wrist late last week. He wore a wrap on the wrist during practice today. Kinsey is recovering from a sprained right ankle, suffered late last month.

The Cavaliers have an open roster spot, so they will have to get creative in the short term.  This is also a pretty big blow on the trade front, as Danny Ferry continues to have less depth at the “two” than originally thought approximately a month ago.  If Daniel Gibson decides to step up at any point this season, it will have to be now.

Feel free to plug in your Kobe Bryant Ankle Insurance jokes…

Enough with this dude…….fragility can’t be counted on. He was playing great, but count his minutes gone even when he returns-time to find someone who isn’t brittle. Kinsey deserves first crack at those available minutes. Reminds me of Adam Miller……..I keep hearing about that dude every spring and he breaks a finger, has a blister,,, you name it-I don’t want to hear about him anymore until and unless he survives a full season.

At least he managed to go out on a high note this time, run the floor lay up followed by the D on the in bounds.

The trade deadline is looking really grim right now. Hopefully Ferry is cooking up something incredible and keeping it nice and quiet.

At least its only 2 games til hopefully Delonte and Kinsey are back.

Alex – it’s not quite like Browns training camp since there’s no staph infection involved.
