While We’re Waiting… Substitute Teacher Edition
While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar. Today Scott is on assignment shooting bikini models in Brazil. (I made that up.)
The Cavs are now talking seriously about standing pat at the trade deadline. At least that’s what they are saying out loud. I hope it is all a front, personally. [PD / Windhorst]
The Indians moved spring training to Arizona. The fact that Arizona is even a destination today is a story in and of itself. “Almost 60 years earlier, federal surveyor Joseph C. Ives had reported to Congress: ”The region is altogether valueless. After entering it, there is nothing to do but leave.” [ABJ]
From the who cares department, Lawrence Taylor is afraid of life without the spotlight and is planning on being on the eighth season (why were there seven already?) of Dancing with the “Stars.” [NY Newsday]
In case you had any questions about the defensive choices that the Lakers made this weekend against the Cavs, here is the coaching breakdown with videos and diagrams. Basically, the Lakers took their chances with anyone not named Lebron, and in the second half, the shots weren’t dropping. [X's and O's]
No big surprises here, but the Browns terminated seven contracts yesterday. The Browns terminated the contracts of Peek, Dorsey, DB Terry Cousin, QB Bruce Gradkowski, P Mike Dragosavich, K Jason Reda and OL Eric Young. [Plain Dealer]

I am bummed that Peek never could stay healthy. His first training camp/pre-season looked solid until he got hurt. He could just never get right. The way he looked before first getting hurt, he would have taken some pressure off of Wimbley.

And I thought Mankok hadn’t spent enough time yet to analyze the roster?

I personally like the idea of the Cavs standing pat. Despite battling injuries all year, we still hold the best record in the Eastern conference.
I like our chances with Delonte & Z back on the same floor.

Right with ya deep13, we’ll have plenty of cap space in the next few years to adjust and add another stud frontcourt player. If we can get a Joe Smith type with an expiring contract fine; if not let it roll.
In Danny and Dan we trust.

@RandyOSU – It shouldn’t take anyone very long to realize Ken Dorsey can’t play in the NFL.
Bodden was cut by the Lions. Bring back Leigh, just don’t let him pick anyone up at the airport.

I’m completely on board with keeping Wally unless that perfect storm of a trade comes along. The way he’s shooting, it would be foolish to just use him as an expiring contract. Right now he’s worth more to the Cavs than that, but I’m not sure he’s worth more to another team than that.

they still have cedric simmons’ trade exception which they can use to get a guy up to about $1.9 mil. i can see them using that to get a solid cheap veteran for nothing, like a fransisco elson from the bucks who knows mike brown’s system from his spurs days.

For anyone considering going to AZ for spring training, my advice is to go.
The thing I miss the most after moving from Phoenix is spring training. The weather is beautiful (sometimes a bit hot even in March, but it doesn’t rain every day like Florida)…most of the ballparks are nestled in the surrounding mountains…the city has a ton of stuff to do…and spring training baseball is just plain fun.
Personally, I’m waiting for my boys to get a little older before making the trip, but I am very glad that they moved (even if they picked the wrong side of the city).

So happy Dorsey is gone.

I assume Scott is out today which is why there is only one post and it is almost noon?
February 10th, 2009 at 11:54 am
Was Bernie on the Rizz today? I’m wondering if he’s fielding offers for Dorsey’s next gig… considering he’s his agent and all.

It’s a glorious day now that Terry “freakin” Cousin is no longer a Brown.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
I am still amazed to the fact that Dorsey made it this long in the league. And even more messed up is that with the lack of FA QB’s this off-season, he’ll land elsewhere and fondle the clipboard on someones sideline. At least it wont be in Cleveland. (for now)

I would take Terry Cousin over Ralph Brown any day…

I’m making that picture of Wally the background for my desktop.

“I would take Terry Cousin over Ralph Brown any day…”
Jake Delhomme wishes Arizona felt the same way.

Then Chris Brown hit her with a right!

IRB, hey watch it with that type of inappropriate humor. This is a family site!

Thanks for the laugh, IRB.

An update for anyone interested.
Bruce Gradkowski, after being waived by the Browns, has been picked up off of waivers by Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders.

I feel sorry for Bruce…

I guess they won’t be trading DA then. Would they really go into the seaon with Brady and 2 rookie backups?
