J.J. Hickson Slated to Miss 2-3 Weeks
Last night welcomed back the return of Ben Wallace to the Cavaliers frontcourt. In fact, the arena team shop was holding a Welcome Back Ben sale by displaying his jerseys proudly in the entrance of the store. But what his return also marks is the addition of another body to the Cavaliers post game – one that is much-needed with news that J.J. Hickson will miss up to three weeks with some lower back issues.
An MRI that was given to the rookie forward yesterday afternoon revealed that he has what’s being called a “stress reaction” that results from repetitive motions. It is safe to say that the motions in question do not consist of passing the basketball. However, while fevers are easily cured by more cowbell, the only thing that will help Hickson’s condition is rest. He will be completely shut down for at least two weeks, where he will then be reevaluated.
This isn’t the first time where Hickson has experienced back problems, so the team will likely ensure that he is 100 percent before insterting him back into the lineup. Until then, Ben Wallace, Anderson Varejao and Darnell Jackson will man the power forward slot for Mike Brown.
You never like to have any of your players miss time, but if there is any consolation, Hickson has seemingly fallen out of the rotation as of late. This will give him time to rest up while we get Ben Wallace back in to the swing of things as we head in to the post season.

repetitive motion = sitting in perfect posture on the bench

I would be a lot more concerned if it were Darnell Jackson shutting it down for two weeks. Is it strange that I value our second round PF over our first round PF? Or that Mike Brown does?

Hickson’s upside is considerably higher, but there is no denying that he needs some more work.

@TBrown: It doesn’t matter. Neither JJ nor DJ were going to get any minutes in the playoffs unless something is going really wrong.

@RockKing: Or unless something is going really right! But you’re right; I guess it wouldn’t matter much either way.

#2 – I still value Boobie Gibson over Shannon Brown.

Repetitive motion = flexing just like big bad LeBron do after he do the dunk.

How do suffer a back injury sitting on the bench?
